I'm looking into getting some Mobil 1 Motorsport oil, 15W-50. Only the best for my baby. I've found a web site that is doing it for around £6.99 a litre but unfortunately it comes in packs of 6 US quart cans (total 5.7 litres). 6 litres may be a little much for me so does anyone fancy doing a group buy?

If I've got more interest than I thought I can sort out a larger order. Hell, if I get enough I might even be able to negotiate a discount

Can't understand why you think 6 litres is too much. A noil change with filter uses 5.5 litres and the car will use it so you only have 0.5 litres for topping up

Having said that, I went to France last summer and brought back 2 gallon (4.5 litres or whatever) of the stuff, had 1 service in between and going for another a week on Monday and I haven't had to open one of them yet!!
Does oil go off?

Edited to add, I've done about 10.5K miles in that time.

IKWYM, but it does seem funny as it's already been hanging around for 60-odd million years.

Just FYI, TVR are no longer recommending Mobil 1.

They now use Carlube Tripple R.

For a Chimaera they reckon Carlube Triple R 0W-40 Fully synthetic (after first 6000 miles).

Something to do with Carlube sponsoring them?

Sticking to Mobil 1 myself

Buying lots of oil is the best way to ensure your car never ever uses any.

Is it available in any other strengths than 15/50?

The biggest larf was Mobil's answer to the fact that savvy people go to France and buy the stuff at half price. They said that French Mobil One was specially formulated for - er - France and we musn't use it over here...

If it is ordered from a TVR dealer, do we get a new set of stickers and an oil filler cap with "Use Carlube Tripple R" for the engine bay?

and that would be racersedge.co.uk eh?
i ordered from them, top service (but the credit card payment doesn`t work - have to send a cheque) and gave all the oil to dave batty for him to replace at 12k service, none was left so i think the minimum buy would be enough for your car...........
