I thought I would never have to, but I find that I can no longer fund the Cerbera's habit and will have to pass it on to another.

However I cannot bring myself to go cold turkey and leave the TVR fold, so I am exploring whether I could afford to run one of the other models in a more fiscally prudent manner. Sooooo...

...what would be a sensible choice? Are the Rover engined beasties significantly cheaper to run? Would a wedge be a prudent choice? How can I stick with the gang without the sort of outlay that the Cerb requires?

I don't need the capital from the Cerb sale, although some dividend would be nice, but I HAVE to reduce my outgoings! frown

Chimaera, after all its what the Cerb is based on. smile

Go for a 4.5/5.0 engine and then if you want even more power either get the uprated Plenum/AFM combo or TVR Powers Supercharger.

I wouldn't bother with the overpriced, older looking, less stylish Griffith. winktongue out

Short answer yes. A chim or griff is probably the best choice re. running costs. The RV8 will cause few if any problems, pads and tyres are cheaper and so's servicing. You'll get more chim for your money, a griff will probably hold on to more money.

Steve.

Sounds like a sad day ..

Guess the down sides are there are only 2 seats but the upside is the Wedge/Chim/Griff cost about 1/2 of what a Cerb costs in maintenance.. just a ball park figure mind you.

They are all just as much fun too !

Sorry to hear you've got to part with you P&J.

Depends what you want from the next car but one of the most cost effective way to own a TVR is an S series. Ok, maybe I'm biaSed..... wink

I've gone from S to Chim to S. If it's a weekend toy you're after the S will give you a big biggrin for small £'s and will be a bit more "exclusive" than the Chim or Griff (if that's important to you). If it's an everyday car you want then the Chim or Griff will be more refined.

S, Chim or Griff - either way you'll get the benefit of some roof off motoring cool

That's the bit I don't think I can handle - I just don't think grown men should cry! hehecry

I think a few test drives are in order, and I shall have to catch up with various of you Surrey folks to chat about real world costs. yesdriving

Bloody hell Ian,

Bit of a shock mate, yikes this could be your last run in the cerb then??

On the up side, I think a griff would suit you down to the ground. You're too young for a wedge, (sorry Rev) and not limp wristed enough for a chim.
We'll have a chat about it soon.

Hi Ian,

Come on man pull yourself together, get a grip man hehe

Not the best person to ask mate,I spent a fortune on my Wedge rolleyes

A fortune on my Griff rolleyes

And the kids inheritance on the Tuscan hehe

Seriously though mate they all try our patience and the long sufferings but we couldn't be without a Tvr, the noise, the speed, the fun driving

Hope you find the answer Ian thumbup

oooooops wrong log in hehe

I am hoping to get to the Sunday Service the following weekend, and I haven't actually sold it yet! hehe So I wouldn't hold your breath on the speed of divestment! But unfortunately I AM serious.

Definitely interested in exploring the Griff option (I don't play golf wink), so we will have to take some time to chat.

Thanks for all the input folks (and for the moral support bow).

At some stage yes, but I need to get my priorities in order first this year.

I'm not affraid to admit it, but I have shed more than a tear or two this week, I really didn't want to sell the tiv but had no other option.

I nearly backed out of it yesterday, I even called my other half to ask if I was doing the right thing by selling it.

It really is quite odd not having her sat there on the drive anymore.
