Hello,
I own a Noble M12 and have an issue with my heater - the reason I'm asking your good selves is that I noticed a few threads on heaters on the TVR forums that sound similar to mine.
Basically, the heater/aircon fuse blows every time I put the ignition into the on position. Was wondering if anyone has solved this kind of issue (note that my knowledge of electrics is less than ample, so be gentle). Yesterday I ripped out the heater box and disconnected the associated wiring - fuse still blows every time. Any ideas?

You have a short, the only reason the fuse would continue to blow is if the live wire was shorted to ground - the fuse would pop (to avoid a fire).
You`ll have to trace the wires back until you find the spot where the 'live' has (probably) rubbed against the body and removed the plastic insulation (resulting in a earth to the body)

Oh, OK. Cool.
That doesn't sound too bad. Even I can do that kind of thing!
Thanks very much for your help
.
Just as an aside, the Noble relay diagram in the handbook is not that great - tells you which one does what but that's about it. There are slightly different variations of relay in the box - would mixing these up cause issues like this, or are all relays pretty much the same (they're all 12V specification but have slightly different diagrams on the plastic cover)?

You will need to trace the (+) wire from the switch to the fan and inspect the wire for damage ..
Does it pass under the passengers feet, is it being touched by the metal heater controls.
What else is on the heater fuse - that should also not be working..
The fuse covers the aircon too - it's possible that something has gone awry with that, although it has been regassed to double-check that it wasn't just a low gas level (built in protection if gas gets too low). Was all working and then on the way back from a longish trip in the rain it packed up - replaced the blown fuse and everything worked OK again, then re-blew a second time and now no signs of life, (except for the lightning going off when I replace with a new one).Does it pass under the passengers feet, is it being touched by the metal heater controls.

I ripped out the heater yesterday so finding and inspecting the relevant wires should be very easy.
The wiring all exits at the passenger side towards the front of the car directly next to the fuse box (so no kicking/scraping possible from passengers) then the relevant ones wind back through the tunnel back up towards the engine area. I'm hoping it's not an aircon-related issue as these tend to be a bit more expensive to fix
, and I've just spent 2.5K on a replacement diff.Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
