Hi there,

I'm new to the TVR fold having owned my new Tamora for only a couple of weeks (loving it!!!). I have few minor kerbs on the rims (not by me) and have sanded these down so they're nice and smooth again. The only thing is, I need to paint them now.

Do any of you happen to know what paint matches the best if you've done this kind of thing before.

Is there a paint code for them???
Halfords have already sorted me out with some nice GTS Viper Blue paint for the stone chips up front, just the alloys to do now!!!

Thanks

Dicky

Just had mine re-furbed by a friend. He's a car sprayer by trade but did a fantastic job of them. He did them a slightly lighter silver with a bit more sparkle in it but he kept quoting codes/numbers like 096 or 097 I guess this was the silvers code??????? Will try and find out for you!

Ha ha Dicky, I'm sure you are a fantastic driver, but those kerbs must have just been jumping out at you where you live wink

AND another thing, I have spent many hours with the smallest paint brush in the world painstakingly painting in the stone chips. She's looking 'GRRRrreat' by the way..... I am cursed with a passion for perfection; it's not my fault, HELP ME!!!

When I came out of Halfords with the paint, I found a GTS blue Sagaris parked up next to me. Both were looking damn good!!!

Best be careful what I write about the previous owner from now on then biggrin

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I'll give the BMW Arctic Silver a try. I don't need a full re-spray its just the rims that need a little freshen up.

I was suprised at how easy the kerb marks sanded down with some wet and dry paper. You can barley see any of the scuff marks now, just the colour is lighter where the base coat and alloy is exposed from smoothing them down. Hopefully the Arctic silver will do the trick to seal the deal.

I'll update this either way for those who may want to have a crack at it.

DISCLAIMER - I am no expert!!! silly

just remember those stone chips did not occur by driving everywhere at 30 mph driving you must of spent hours with the paint brush there was more than one or two smile

Update....
I've been to Halfords and picked up a chip repair set in BMW Arctic Silver for £9.99 (Primer filler, paint and laquer). I also bought a better paint brush rather than the crappy one you get in the lid.

The wheels look good as new! Not bad really for £9.99 and a bit of time and elbow grease. Saves getting a full re-furb for a while, although I do like the look of those smoked chrome rims I've seen around.......

If you've got kerbed rims, I recommend you give this a try first before shelling out loads on a full on refurb.

S'laters all...

That would have been me, had to buy a front indicator lamp (orange bulb) as I only had a clear one in the garage.

(Sag is Red Bull Blue or Rover Tahiti Blue smile)

Hi Al,

I didn't get a chance to get a close look at your Sag. I heard you rumbling past the front of Halfords tho!!!laugh A very awesome looking car!!!

Hope to see you around...
