Hi Guys

My understanding is that many tvr owners have more than one car. I just wondered how often the need to have mechanical work do.

I have the tvr, a saab900 and the wife has a polo. I don't however, seem to go for more than 6 weeks without having to fix one of them frown. Its so annoying I get them all service to recommended standards and times but I just keep needed to spend money on them nono

I just wondered what other people experience with multi cars. Is it just I am unlucky or is this to be expected?

I've had my ford transit from brand new. Seven years old & 47k, outside of five services,, none of which have been over £200 at ford, and four tyres, it hasn't cost a penny . The tape player played up once, but they swapped it under warranty smile

The Cerberas have been a different matter. Beautiful looking, light, quick, but Christ........I'm not going to say what I'm thinking in case I upset any of the ex employees.

Some cars just seem jinxed.

I had a Charcoal Grey Cavalier that was constantly going to the dealer to have stuff fixed. I have a Vectra now that has been rock solid for years - then cost £2K in three months - then rock solid again. My Porsche was useless at first (bought new - teething troubles with the exhaust - manufacturing defect) and since has been rock solid for five years.

Our TVR has had phases of reliability interspersed with periods of being a total shed.

My experience of cars is that all of them, eventually, get unreliable and need work to sort them back out. Afterwards they can be as good as new again for a while. The trick is to keep getting everything fixed so you don't get any knock-on problems.

The more cars you have? The more stuff there is to go wrong. biggrin

The more cars you have? The better chance you have that one of them works!!!

hehe Before now we've gone out to a car, tried to fire it up, failed, and just got into the next one. There's only two of us and we have three cars... laugh

I just wondered if the reduced usage caused by having more than one car causes an increased risk of things going wrong.

I keep the TVR as the trusty reliable spare car in the garage...... its all ways there in the morning when needed....

whilst the Alfa tends to end up left in car parks in London for a few days because I've gone for a beer or two

I have 3 cars that clearly communicate while I am in bed and come out in sympathy with each other. The latest - TVR odometer has been sticking so as the other 2 cars are running well I decide to send it off for repair. 2 days after sending it off and with the TVR dash in bits the Omega decides to throw a wobbler. Normally I would dump it at the local garage and drive the tiv for a few days grrrrr. Couldnt convince the Mrs to let me take the golf (she didnt believe the exercise would be good for her) so was stuck for a day.

This isnt the first time either. I just *know* that when one of the cars develops a fault needing the TLC of a garage one of the others will do something unusual the next day *sigh*

One day they will take over the world terminator style !

Griffith - utterly reliable
Golf - owned 6 months - 1 fanbelt, 1 undertray, 1 head gasket, all the heater plugs. Has been back to garage 6 times since I bought it. Heap of junk

As I always point out to TVR sceptics "When my car breaks down, I just take the Griff to work!"
