This question has probably been asked a thousand times, but i couldnt find any postings; Does anyone know where i could get decent insurance as i am under 25.

I have decided to fulfill my dream of buying a TVR, and now the insurers are laughing at me.

Im expecting to pay up to £2K but the best quote so far has been £2600 from Tesco. Privelege wanted £5K, so you can imagine my response.

Help would be appreciated, as im hoping to view a griff 400 this weekend.

We got a good deal with Elephant, although this is the thrid car we have insured with them this year and we are 27 and 31. It was £700 and a bit I think for 10 months, not including any track days and we have a Chimaera 4.0

Not sure if that really helps. Could be worth a try though...

Don't know how old you are but...

I'm 23, 5 Years NCB, no accidents, 3 points (SP30), live in Surrey.

Quote from Direct Line for a Tuscan S is currently standing at £1656 fully comp - just me to drive, 450 excess, legal cover and protected no-claims, car garaged (1720 if on driveway), mileage estimated at 8000 per year, but not limited (asked them what would happen if i went over and they said nothing!!)

Give them a go.

Try Sunninghill 01276 474844, always seem to be the cheapest and cover track days as well. Ask for Malcolm.

Direct Line were the best I could come up with. Age 25, full no claims, no convictions or accidents - £820 fully comp. Not bad I thought.

Good luck.

if you manage to get insured for your first year, youll find your 2nd year will be cheaper cos you have the experience of driving a high performance car. Mine halved when I renewed

I wish...

I have had a MK1 MR2, a BMW 325i, an S1, a 350i, and a Chimaera. My policies are usually £700 or so...

Obviously got no Chim still but did get a price in November (gotta check thses things out). This was from Pearts: Age 39, Full Protected NCB. Low risk area. No points. Griff 500. £625.
As I can see me getting a Chim 400, it's gotta be less.

It all depends on your age and your postcode rating... I am with Barclays at present but Direct Line and Privelige are very good too. Adrian Flux used to be very good but I had appaling service when I had to make a claim so a big thumbs down there....

Thanks for all the advice guys, but it looks like im going to have to carry on dreaming for a while.

Ive tried every insurer possible (11 inc. brokers), and the best price ive had is £2400 with £750xs, which is just a little too high.

I'll have to stick with my evo for now, and maybe look again next year.

Have you tried Direct Line? I'm 24 and am paying £1039 for 12 months on my Griffith 500. Try getting a quote on-line!

I'm intending to buy a Chim next year - this only became possible when I found Direct Line quoting less than £2000 for the insurance (everyone else was around the £5000 mark).

Last time I checked:
4ltr Chim, ok postcode, £15000 value, 25 years, 0 ncb - £1700!
