Hi All

Well I got home from Goodwood on Friday and noticed a light but long (18") scratch in the center off my rear screen. Can't think how the hell I picked it up. I know it's there now, and it's really starting to p1ss me off.

So what do you recommend to polish the scratches out off the Perspex rear screen with?

If it is Perspex, get some Greygate polish. It's what the RAF use to polish out scratches on Perspex windows. Greygate are based in Leicester I think, but you can get it from most light aircraft/pilot accessory places. The other cheap option is Brasso...

I'm sure it's not Perspex, which is rigid, but some form of acetate. I use the appropriate Renovo product (can't remember name) which is safe to use. I htink Halfords also do one. Be very careful about using other products not designed specifically for this job - they can do more harm than good.

I have used Halfords glas polish which is very mildly abrasive and also had success with ordinary car polish, it depends on how deep the scratch is all you are doing is removing a layer of material to get rid of the groove - just like T cutting out a scratch on bodywork. Start with the most mild car polish you have and work up fromn that i.e chrome polish/brass plosih/T Cut - even heard of tooth oaste bein used. Finish off with a good polish and it should be ok.

heh - www.renova.co.uk doesn't exist. So I tried www.renovo.co.uk and found a company 'Focussed on the discovery, development and commercialisation of drugs that prevent scars and promote wound healing.'

So it might help your screen 'wound' to heal, but I think you'd be better off with www.classic-spares.com/item317.htm

Hi guys, a many thanks to you all for you advise and help.

Hold fire on the polish EdT don't think I'll be making the GoG weekend,

Chim knee dropped me a mail earlier and his half used pot of Renovo will be winging its way to me shortly.
You all seem to think it's the stuff to use, so I'll do a little area first, if it woks I’ll invest in a new pot.

Thanks again Guy's

I'll keep you posted..
