Guys

Us TVR owners and oneday owners have got to stick together.

I wish for a TVR but maybe aint gonna get one due to damned insurance!

So here is some info i found that you may be interested in:

Privelege insurance very cheap - do search on internet and try!

Also a friend of mine is insured through HSBC Ireland. The deal is this:
All insurance - house, house contents, travel and max of 5 (i think) cars up to total value of £40,000 can be insured in a special portfolio. He has a 911 and Caterham and 200sx and all this he paid £970 a year. Damn fine deal. I think there are criterion to reach such as house rebuild value and contents value....so if your home is worth a bit and you have lots of contents this policy could be for you. What the policy does is insure a load of cars under a single policy - great!!

If enough interest is expressed here i will go further and get you a number and name to contact.

Maybe i should try to get commission!!

Regards lads and lasses

Jamiesteak (maybe/hopefully a TVR owner one day)

I have already posted details of a very similar scheme that someone at work uses. I'll see if I can track down the text again and repost it here.

2 expensive cars to insure (TVR being cheapest) so yes, I'd be interested.

I guess one possible problem with this approach is that if you make a claim it may affect the premium on all things in the portfolio? Might you lose the benefit of the individual ncb's that you have built up?
Just find it hard to believe that insurance companies could possibly offer a genuinely good deal!! (cynical or what?)

dont know mate - im just looking into all this too. i reckon i will get some answers after christmas. number is at work so i will post here after christmas. promise! but i guess you cant lose a no claim bonus if you dont use it.....and anyway, if the portfolio approach is cheaper what the heck!

I do know it is through HSBC though - a reputable co. my mate hadnt even paid his first installment before a truck jumped onto his porsche. the insurance co were apparently really helpful and were about to pay up when the 3rd party admitted liability. so that proves to some extent that it is an ok policy.

promise i will post the number here as soon as i can....we have to stick together;particularly where cheap insurance is concerned!

When I first heard about this type of policy a few months ago, this was my first question too! I never got round to investigating further though.

Just got insurance through A Manning good deal (I think??) would always look to get a better deal though especially as I have two houses, 4 cars and a bike to insure which cost an absolute fortune on seperate policies - let us know what you turn up

I was just in HSBC and he said it must be an Ireland thing only, as HSBC UK do not offer such a service. He even called their insurance dept and they had never heard of it! ROI has very different tax laws etc, maybe insurance is the same?
