What is the fastest TVR at going round a circuit. We'll use Silverstone as the basis for the answers as it's a well known circuit.

If restricted to standard road cars what is the best TVR?

I'd guess at the Speed12 being too lumpy to put down the power, so I'd guess the 'boss'? Maybe?

Interesting - how open a question is this?! what circuit? what tyres? what fuel? can the cars be modded in anyway?

I would say that round a circuit with small straights that a Sagaris would probably be fastest but if its a power circuit then either the Boss or Brummies Cerbera.

I would ask the question how standard is the Boss Cerbera? it can't be too different from standard aside from the bespoke engine can it?

Maybe a Ten Of The Best type event just for road going TVR's or even sling in a couple of Tuscan or Sagaris race cars as well which would be fun & interesting. This should include 3 timed events 1/4 mile sprint, circuit & a 3/4 to a 1 mile flat out blast. Each event will have a winner then an overall winner for the 3 diciplines as TOTB. Elvington or Croft circuit etc would do or wherever as a long runway is necessary. Maybe TVRCC could or should organise it, their magazines called 'Sprint' so seems appropriate...

Road car in good health and a good driver would produce different results dependant on circuit. Around somewhere like twisty then the Sagaris, somewhere where power and grunt is king like Silverstone GP then perhaps a toss up between a 4.5RR Cerb and Sag, but probably still the Sag.

As for Race car, the last generation of the T400's run by LNT would be quicker every time IMHO. I remember asking Michael Cain at LM if the T400 was quicker/better than the Cerb S12 he'd piloted, he said it was better/quicker in all departments, horses mouth to me on the race car front.

I'm confused by what lumpy means?

I have heard this before. Some say it may have been a bit of bravado though. Don't forget that the 12 is now producing 880bhp (NOT 680 like the race car he drove), and once on slicks is, in the words of Evo, 'terrfiyingly quick'. It'd be an interesting battle indeed.

How much power did it produce without them?

The sagaris at the 24hour race was very quick, about 3 or 4seconds quicker a lap than the sagaris's running in the dutch supercar race, but im not what specification they are comparied to the race car sagaris's that your saying about.

The Racesport Sagaris, with its 7 litre LS7 and Hewland sequential transaxle, did a fastest lap of 1.57.584 at Silverstone that weekend.

Tim Hood's 4.5 litre AJP engined Sagaris did a 1.58.569 - only a second a lap slower.

We only managed a 2.01.514, but then our car was brand new, never tested, only had half throttle and a manual synchro box.

The Racesport car still has some pace to come, but for Britcar (not the 24) and Dutch Supercar there is a maximum power to weight that it will already comfortably exceed. What it gains in development it may lose by having to restrict power - it will be interesting to watch.

We have a huge amount of pace to come with our own Chevy engine going in, but with a 5.7 litre unit rather than the 7.0, we will still stay within the power to weight limits more easily.

With Tim, Steve and Fred's Sagaris also swapping to Chevy power for next season, there will be a number of very, very fast TVR race cars out in 2008

yikes

Do you mean same setup as on the Ferrari Daytona, engine at front, transaxle at the back to even out weight distribution?

Yes, exactly that. Although the engine is towards the front, it sits entirely behind the front axle line, so front mid-engined is probably more accurate
