Currently have a Chim 450 which I love to bits but have some extra cash and want to 'upgrade'? and get a more modern Tiv. Have always loved the look of the Tuscan but have read good things about the T350 in terms of road handling, brakes etc. Will not be used as a daily car but for weekend fun and the occasional track day and trip to Le Mans etc. So what should it be?

I also had a Chim 450 but upgraded to a Tamora which I bought in early 2005 and which I have been very happy with. A T350 is not so good in Summer while I do not like the lines of the Tuscan. It is a personal choice.

all opinions gratefully received but sorry, how can you not like the lines of a Tuscan? It has to be one of the best looking cars ever built.

And your experience of them is what? According to your profile you have a V8s and "dream of having a T350"? What's the difference between a T350 and a Tuscan that makes a T350 more reliable?

I've had 2 Tuscans over 5 years and 35,000 miles and no reliability issues at all. That's experience - not hearsay.

To answer the OP's question - I chose my first Tuscan over a Cerbera (but the same argument for a T350 or a Sag) principally because of the flexibility it gives. With the roof on it really is like driving a fixed head coupe and feels very snug. With the roof off it feels like a completely different car. So two for the price of one and I do like to drive with the top off in the summer but I dislike soft tops. (Obviously you also have the choice of Tuscan vert now). I also prefer the styling of the Tuscan but that's obviously just personal taste, the T350 is also v pretty imo. The two cars have almost identical performance etc..

The T2 has the electronic steering and has different handling charactersitics to the T1, more like the T350.

hi
i had the same problem just recently changed the chim 450 for a great tuscan but also had in mind t350 both fantastic cars but it is down to what you really like the most. for me the tuscan won on looks alone theres nothing that looks remotely like it on the road today or any other day , unless tvr ever go back to production again. but once again its down to what you really want,if money no object have both i would.
regards jon............ merry xmas to all..........

I love them all, but chose the T350 to replace my Chim as it was the best car that came along during my search (based on condition, history, colour, price etc.). I bloody love it and don't miss the Chim (wonderful though it was). Good luck in your search.

Surely you want to drive both to see which you prefer?

People seem to be forgetting the T350 Targa. I've always loved the look of the Tuscan but have recently been having dirty thoughts about a T350T with anthracite wheels... I feel so dirty hehe

Some people prefer the full open top motoring as opposed to Targas

Not useless advice, more of a personal opinion me thinks smile

Ugly??? Are you blind? The Tamora is a fine looking motor, Tvr made distinctive looking cars but never any ugly one.

well i agree that it is certainly distinctive, but i couldnt call it sexy or gorgeous like you can all other Tivs post the wedge era. I think it is very much the ugly duckling of the latest breed. Dont deny is is arguably the best to drive other than the Saggy but to me the car has to look amazing and thats where the Tuscan IMO is the nuts. I also prefer the Mk1 Tuscan to the revised front end of the Mk2 although the Mk 2 is the better car overall.

I keep flitting between a good Mk1 Tuscan and the T350. Will just have to drive them both to see how different they are.

Did also have a moment of weakness to consider an Exige or Noble.... confused

Cant leave the Tiv gang though can I?

I think the Tuscan Mk 1 is probably the sexiest, curviest little motor ever built but the way it was set up from the factory with that ultra-quick steering rack and suspension that never felt quite settled, compounded by the 18" wheels that most owners ordered as a matter of course, proved to be something of an evolutionary dead end. The T350 and Tamora seem to be much more composed to the point that you're not very consciously moderating your inputs all the time and can really drive the thing - it's reported a Tamora on 16" wheels is a very fine thing indeed. The Tuscan 2 took many aspects of the T350 in terms of wheel geometry and a slightly 'slower' (all is relative, still 2.0 or so turns lock to lock only) steering rack, and at this point the range got newly developed Bilstein dampers in place of the HBEs which was said to be quite an improvement in itself.

well i knew my statement would ruffle a few feathers but there was no need to be a tw*t about it so here goes, get yourself a tuscan they are the most reliable car you can buy and absolutely no one has had any problems whatsoever but dont take my advise as i have no experience at all.
