I seem to remember other people posting about this issue, but can't remember the answer - if there is one.

My mileometer (V8S) has stuck at 23,899.9 miles a few days ago, it doesn't seem to want to click over to 23,900.

Any ideas or tricks to try?

Cheers,
JSG

There's an FAQ in the Chimaera section covering this.

Guys,

I know that no increase in mileage might look good, but -

How many miles would you get without a service?

Even limited mileage ins might smell a rat.

Fuel consumption would be crap.

And prob some more reasons......

JSG,

Check out the "MY ODOMETER IS STUCK AT ?999 MILES" thread in the Chimaera discussion group.

Assuming that your speedo is still registering speed correctly, and that the problem is restricted to the mileometer, make sure that you leave it a while before paying for a repair (it won't be cheap - I was quoted around £250) as it may start again of its own accord.

You could try resetting the trip meter +/or tapping the speedo glass gently as you are going along, as apparently that sometimes helps.

My car was allready booked in for speedo repair/replacement when it started working again. It's been fine for best part of 1K now. I Wonder if it will make it past the next ?999 point?!!

Hope you get sorted quickly and cheaply.

Cheers Preston,

Ted had pointed me to the Chim FAQs and I found your thread. I'll try the tapping trick and see what happens.

It shouldn't cost much as I've only had the car a few weeks and it's trying to worry me with its teething probs - but nothing will put me off.

Its going in to DGs in the New Year for an alignment check so I'll get them to have a look if its still stuck.

Cheers
JSG.
