Hi All
Just wanted to know what "do's" were on for Le Mans 2002.
Have seen a couple of offers and am not sure which one to go for. (Prices from £450-£1500)
Would like to stay in hotel but not too far from track (a walking distance if possible? Couple of miles?) and would like it to involve at least driving on part of the track. We can get rid of Thomas for a long weekend so it would be us two in Loopy (us two is pbrettle and me for those that don't know). Would like to see some other ladies there too, and have a riot, the only racing I have been to is brands hatch about 10 years or more ago, so am in need of some serious racing! Any ideas?
Want to book sooner rather than later as don't want to miss out.

Go to Le Mans and stay in a Hotel?? What do you think this is - a Grand Prix
This is a route that I have never investergated before - so to be honest I can`t comment on the price/location - however...
The last few times I have been we always camp - mainly because the atmosphere is fantastic, truthfully Le Mans is a huge 24 hour beer festival with some motor racing thrown in!
But don`t panic! You will enjoy it when you go - its one of the few events that Brits are welcomed too!

to get a hotel within walking distance you needed to book about 2 years ago...
my tip would be to go for as long as possible, the cars are inspected in the town on monday and tuesday there is practice/qualifying wed and thur, open pit lane and a party on friday, and a big pissup in the camp sites on sunday night.
The track campsites are very very basic, some of the private ones a few miles away are quieter with facilities..
one solution would be to book a hotel 30/40 miles away and a couple of grandstand tickets and aco membership.
stay at the hotel and drive in for the race and stay at the track for 24/36 hours. there is plenty to eat/drink and the aco suite is warm and has proper
loos'
never tried it but its a good plan.
budget spectating costs about 175 quid plus food and fuel per person in a car
driving down and kipping in the track campsites.. basic you get no sleep and very drunk
Hope this helps ( well at least a bit)
cheers

Yes I agree with Hazzer, the atmosphere is great and I’m sure if you don’t camp you only get half of it. Last year I took my girlfriend and even persuaded my Mum and Dad to go! Upon our return they both started making arrangements for next year. If you go I promise you will want Le Mans to happen every month!
