Chairman's Chat
Discussion
Having just read Decembers Sprint (well at least the first page) I would like to congratulated Jeremy (COACH) on his statements regarding the TVRCC relationship with the company. I thought for too long the Club sat on the fence, maybe for good reasons, but now the Chairman has strongly expressed what many members have thought for a while.
Edited to quote Chairman's Remarks.
"So what is the relationship with TVR cars at the moment?......in short.....there isn't one! Despite many efforts and communications, neutrality on contenious issues and openness that to some was unpalatable, we have nothing. I find this a strange reaction to a club with 7000 potential customers, deep links to racing, an archive database of 21,000 cars and a history almost as long as the cars themselves. For a manufacture to treat what is currently its largest sales channel in this manner is curious to say the least. We are THE focal point for TVR enthusiasts, we are the prime channel for dealers and independent alike, we have legal and commercial rights to all club services in place and to coin a phrase , we hold all the party lists. Well, times change and things move on.Therefore you will see a marked change in our reporting style, posture, public relations and advise to members from this point on. To the current management of TVR, please, do not ever underestimate us or take us for granted"
Sorry for any typos.....but well stated

Perhaps the TVRCC could now have fully authorised independent TVR service centres, and if they don't perform they get struck off... That would give the club and it's members more clout.
Thats an interesting Idea, I'll put it to the committee. Not quite sure how it would work, and it might be too expensive to setup monitor and administer etc but certainly worth talking about...There could also be some question of liability... I.e. you take a tiv to a TVRCC Recommended Service center and get a bad job, and then sue the club..
I'll do some digging and see if any of the other clubs do anything similar... im sure i've seen a star rating for suppliers from one club,
There could be some red tape involved though, and we must remember that TVR do still exist as a company and have some rather deep pockets and expensive lawyers...!!!!!!

I like the idea of that sort of thing and IMO the club should use its clout more. We have 7000 members, most of whom have at least 1 TVR and that represents a sizeable amount of potential business in a small market place. That is why I always found it so puzzling that things like the insurance endorsement were given away so easily without any tangible return for either club or member. I think Jeremy is doing a great job as chairman and is really trying hard to change things.

Ah yes, but they don't have any authorised dealers or service centres to protect let alone care about......

Where is works on eBay is that ebay is not dependant on sellers for anything other than the fees charges to list/sell an item.
Tim
For the authorised centres, with any financial involvement and association there will be conflicts of interest.
The amazon review / ebay rating system is a better idea.
For the record it's not that easy to rate garages either - i've had them ring me up and complain that I am complaining on PH.

An acurate column unlike Howard Bryan's brown nosing article on the Speed Six.
I am not doubting Dom's work but to compare a regenaration of the Speed Six to the reliability of an Rover V8 is misleading to the naive owner.

ocks to you and me.
Ahh true colours coming out. I take it your resignation from the committee has been gleefully accepted?I am not doubting Dom's work but to compare a regenaration of the Speed Six to the reliability of an Rover V8 is misleading to the naive owner.

It's about time 'certain' committee members gave genuine appraisals rather than reviewing 'friends with benefits'

Sorry cause a ripple, I really hope Dom has 'cured' the Speed Six but until owners are 'X' years and miles down the line this is a total empty article.
People claimed the post 05 car are 'sorted'?
So why are Saggy engines failing with liner, follower, crank problems?
Members should not be mislead.
