Does anyone have traction control fitted to their TVR? Search facility is not working for me at the moment, otherwise I suspect I could've answered my own question!

What about retro-fitted ABS, anyone had a go at that?

My personal view is that a fully switchable TC system with variable slip (e.g. Racelogic?) and switchble ABS would be great, especially this time of year.

Rants as to "diluting the purity of the drive" more than welcome wink

Why what? Why are rants welcome, why TC/ABS, or just a general "life" question? biggrin

Well, never really considered it. Been on the Wedge types for years and drive them all weathers all year even in the snow. Only once did I have to return to the garage due to snow and that was because the ribbed section on a slight slope had been compressed and re frozen and I could not get traction over it. Never really had a brown trouser moment, might have been one or two close, but otherwise I like it this way. Never tried traction control and ABS does not exactly fill me with confidence. I prefer the mark I peepers.

Then there is the cost.

More just as a matter of interest to be honest - Wouldn't have bought 1 TVR, let alone swapped one for another, if a lack of TC/ABS were a worry smile

However, if the systems work, and are switchable, I feel that they would be very useful - I'm not suggesting it's any substitute for good observation and smooth driving inputs, but a useful safety net if you do make a mistake or encounter hidden hazards (especially in wintery conditions).

Cost-wise (with minimal research) it looks like a suitable racelogic TC system would be in the region of £1000-£1500 with fitting, so not too bad - I would've thought someone on here has had a go. I would suspect that ABS is more of a costly option, and harder to set up correctly.

For what it's worth, and given that I suspect this thread will get short shrift anyway wink whilst I agreed with TVR's decision to leave out TC from their production cars, I disagreed with the lack of ABS. If properly hardcore sports cars can have systems that are unobtrusive, then it's just a basic safety feature that shouldnt've have been omitted. Could well have been a cost thing, though.

Once the snow sets in, traction control and ABS is pretty much rendered useless anyway!

My car has ABS and it fails miserabley in the winter making the task of braking more worrying than it should be!

Fair enough, but conditions need to be pretty extreme before TC/ABS are rendered useless. As far as ABS is concerned, I think it's pretty much a given that a car with ABS, driven by a driver of average skill, in non-extreme conditions, can stop in a substantially shorter distance than a car without.

Anyway, whilst this is an interesting debate, has anyone had a go at TC/ABS on a TVR?

There's a good write up on it in "The Bible".

Chap posts as Sportie has/had traction control on his Sagaris I believe.

Synopsis... The Racelogic TC system is good and you can switch it off when you want to play silly buggers biggrin The one in The Bible was installed by Tower View Race Services.

That thread triggered the question to be honest - I don't think it's a route I'd want to go down myself (I'd go for ABS if anything, and I drive like I'm driving Miss Daisy most of the time smile ) but am interested in anyone's experiences with the Racelogic or otherwise.

Talking nearly up to twin plenum and set up there. More fun.

There was a bloke from Holland with a yellow Cerb at Rockingham with Racelogic / TC fitted. Can't quite remember his name but it was his business retrofitting the stuff (inc Stack dials).confused
