Charged battery - now alarm stuck on !! Any advice ?
Discussion
Can anyone help me out ?
The Griff is in for a new cam soon and whilst it’s been in the garage not used much, the battery went flat. So I’ve charged the battery with me accumate (whilst the battery was in and connected, using the Leven fitted charge leads).
Now I can’t turn off the alarm (factory orignal). The Fob works – LED is working and I put a new battery in just in case, but nothing – alarm won’t turn off and central locking won’t operate.
Anyone encountered the same ? Anyone know how I get out of this frustrating predicament?
Thanks

My 96 chimaera has the same problem at the moment . the only way I can turn the alarm off is to put the key in the ignition and hold the button down for a few seconds. This may work with yours too but the only problem is that you can't lock the car. Can't suss what the problem is yet but at least I can drive it.
Not sure which alarm you have. Mine (Meta) did something similar needed to reset the alarm system by disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds then reconnecting it. When you reconnect the battery the alarm is armed so be ready with the fob to disarm.
Could also be one of the door switches not being pushed in enough.
Worst case could be the siren has gone faulty. Mine did this (after I had had problems with the battery) in the end I had to take it out and wait for the backup battery to discharge. Then took the car to Carl Baker and he fitted another one (plus some other goodies
)
Might be worth giving him a call he knows TVRs and alarms very well

What he said. If its the meta it gets confused when the flat battery is charged. Remove earth from car battery for 5 secs. Reconnect then immediately press plipper. Alarm should reset and all should be well. Happened to me several times nowGassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
