Some pictures from our race at Spa a couple of weeks ago - Darren Dowling and I raced in the Dutch Supercar Challenge - 2 x 1 hour races

We qualified 12th and retired from race 1 whilst in 7th with a wheel bearing failure. We started 51st on the grid for race 2, I handed over to Darren whilst in 17th and he brought the car home in a stunning 6th place. Not bad for a car on just its second ever race outingbiggrin

Well the winner and second place were driving Audi TT DTM cars. Very recent DTM cars, still with full carbon brakes so we and everyone else were a long way behind them.

However we were only 15 seconds behind the third and fourth placed cars (4th being Ric Wood in an Astra DTM):

And just 6 seconds behind the Rudolph Viper:

and with a faster lap time than any of the top 10 other than the Audis. We also took 20 seconds longer than the minimum pit stop length as we were refuelling and were super cautious, so a podium finish could have been ours without that. But all in all, a very good result, especially having started from the back!

We were running a 4.5 race AJP with a Holinger 6 speed sequential box. But as we are now doing much longer races we have a 5.7 litre Chevy LS6 with around 480bhp that will go into the car over the winter - with that and some further development of the car we should be nipping at the heels of the Moslers. Will be sad to move away from the AJP, but whilst it is fabulous for the sprint races of the Tuscan Challenge, it wasn't ever intended for 2-4 hour races.
