Spring trip to the Isle of Man
Discussion
An idea that we had a short while ago, was a trip to IoM, for a weekend of speed limit free hooning. Starting a thread here to gauge interest. Me and my GriffBitch are going to have a trip there in the next month or so to check it out. Touching cloth and Fubar have been researching the idea and have come up with some great ideas already (See below) I would like to say that this is a completely open idea and any input would be greatly appreciated. As mentioned before in TC's post, the way forward would be to source information (Ferry times and costs, and hotel costs and options.)with everyone booking their own weekend away.
The idea of a 3 hour open pitlane on the IoM track with no noise limits, seems like a great one for £60.
Late March, early April would seem to be the time that everyone seems to have in mind already. So come on people lets all get our heads together and organise between us an unbelievably amazing weekend away.
If we can get 20 Cerbs to the Ring, and with the Sussex Posse's form for decent turnouts, this could me mega
I'll point TC in your direction Dean
Here I am
As the lardy one says, have been in provisional discussion with some peeps about something very similar (albeit I wasn't going to bother with a recce and just wing it cos I am a bit lazy and tight).
Thoughts I had so far for IOM'08 are:
Time: provisionally was looking late March/ early April time.
Hotel : Liked the look of the Mount Murray just outside Douglas http://www.mountmurray.com - Better parking than town centre hotels. Swimming pool and leisure facilites, possibility of a round of golf (or two) for those that way inclined also
. Short cab ride from Douglas if peeps wanted to head into town for a night out (think a courtesy bus was also mentioned when I spoke with Steam Packet Holidays).
Duration : Long weekend, 3 days 2 nights, something like out early crossing on Saturday back lateish on Monday. If everyone makes own bookings to keep it easy, also means peeps can stay on or arrive early if they like.
Ferry Crossing : From Liverpool and best packaged up with the hotel. Indicator of 07 prices was that Mount Murray 2 night stay was from about £135 inc foot passenger carriage and then about £30 single supplement if on own and about £40 or something to upgrade the ferry to add the car.

Other options : As well as the obvious attraction of the speed limit free roads and scenery, I also discovered the option of the Jurby Race Circuit near the north of the island. The real bonus of this is it works out cheap (around £60 per car for 3 hour open pitlane) and unlike most tracks now in the uk is completely noise limit free
May or not be of interest to people but if we can garner enough interest it can block booked for our exclusive use.

Thats about as far as I got, let me know if it fits with what you lot were thinking and maybe we can link and sync the plans for a mega island invasion.

Me and the GB are thinking about organsing a trip to the Isle of Man in the spring for a session of mad hooning (No speed limits
) Would anyone else be interested in coming? We will be going in the next month or so, to have a good look around, we will let any interested parties know the outcome.
Well, this is interesting! Myself and fellow PHers Touching Cloth & Far Eastender (ok, mostly TC) have been discussing the possiblilty of doing an IoM trip next spring instead of doing a Cerburgring II tour (to the Ring, obviously).

We did this some years back as an official TVRCC holiday
It was IMO the best TVRC event ever
The roads are fantastic - Mount Murray was the place to stay!
The gov closed the mountain section for us - we all got a flat out, both sides of the road, run over the top.
Then we went Viking long boat racing at Ramsay.
A bbq evening finished it off
Good luck - Its a fantastic place for TVR
