ok, so im selling my '79 911 and looking for something a bit newer and a change from a Porsche. Not knowing much about TVR owner ship except from the obvious rumours of unreliability which I'm hoping are exagerated, although based on some fact.

Can anyone give me a quick overview of the Chimera, what to buy, what not to, what to look for, common faults, annual running costs, engine rebuild costs etc ?

would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Richard

Biased opinion I think..

I prefer the Chim, and I don't even play golf!

Loads of info already on here. Do a search, you'll turn up loads on this...

As a conclusion: Condition, Condition, COndition.

Absolutely yes

I went from a 996 to a Griff earlier this year and I don't regret it for a second.

I went from a 996 to a Cerb. The Porsche is an all round better car, but I much prefer the Cerb. It's a drivers car and has a lot more 'grunt'. I went for the S6, as I tend to do more long autobahn stuff than tracking.

You'll need GBP 2-3,000 a year for servicing and 'niggles', but if you keep on top of them, it's quite reliable, in spite of what you may hear.

I went from an '88 3.2 Carrera back to my second, and have to say very good Griff 500.

Knew I'd made a mistake even by the time I'd got it home. Have since sold the Griff but would love to have my old 911 back yes
