Talk a good talk after sales is cr*p 11 months for a remote control for the alarm including 19 phone calls (3 weeks from fernhurst) 3 months for touch up paint and so on and so on all started very good but once you have the car don't expect any service !!!! only in my opinion though. The best I have found is Hawthornes for car sales and Fernhurst for service so that what I do, bit of a pain in the a**e but well worth it for piece of mind and reduction in stress !!!
I bought my Chimp second hand but it had originally been bought and always serviced at Mole Valley Chessington - the bloke I bought it from bought a Tuscan from them and was very complimentry.
I have only had it serviced there once since I bought it and it was fine - I particularly enjoyed the lift to Chessington train station in the demonstration Tuscan!

My experience of Mole Valley was that they were just plain rude to me and couldn't be bothered to give me the time of day. Still if they don't want your money, what can you do? Bought my Tiv' through Hawthorns and so far they've been excellent. Have heard similar compliments about Fernhurst and similar bad experiences of Mole Valley.

Funny what things cause you to form an impression of a place isn't it? When I was in the process of changing my S3C initially I was looking for a used Griffith. Mole valley were advertising what sounded like a nice pre-cat 4.3 so I drove over to look at it. When I noticed (pretty obvious you'd say) that it had a 500 nose I asked the sales guy about its history. When he offered no information I suggested that I was concerned it had been in a shunt, he went ballistic and more or less accused me of slander! So I asked him why it had a 500 nose on a pre-cat car, and he said they were made like that... now that was news to me - I knew that the old style nose was no longer available so early cars were being re-built with new fronts but I never saw a pre-cat car leave Blackpool with the new front. Especially as there was a gap of about 6-9 months between production, as the Chimaera was rolled out. As they are TVR specialists I wanted him to talk to me in a knowledgeable manner but he was so rude/evasive that I vowed never to go there again, and I didn't. R...

Rich,
How long ago was this?? I've not seen any 4.3 pre-cat Griffs for sale at Mole Valley for a while now!
I cannot fault Mole Valley so far. They've been extremely patient with me whilst ordering my car. I've dropped in unannounced more times than I can count to alter the car spec, change the interior spec, change the paint colour etc etc
Was in there today in fact, changing it *yet* again and they'd just received their Tamora demonstrator the day before, so let me out in it.
Very nice it is too - I can see why it gets rave reviews. It felt very much like my MX-5 in that I was immediately a lot more at home in it than I was when I drove the Tuscan. It felt very nimble... "chuckable" was the word Spencer used, and I couldn't agree more.
Not as gut-wrenchingly quick as the Tuscan, tho there were only 100 miles on the clock so I couldn't open it up, and personally I didn't like the interior. But other than that a damn fine car...
Wouldn't swap my 'S' order for one tho

Don't want to make an issue of it but it happened. It was Cooper Green or Stamist Green (can't remember) magnolia trim etc. and I didn't say it was a BV. Looked really nice, perhaps because it had had a front end respray I was considering part-ex'ing my S3c at the time, which eventually did but for a brand-new one from Portfield.
I have worked at Mole Valley for more than 3 years! (and prior to that Fernhurst), and I have never seen a 4.3BV in Mole Valley's Showroom.

Still being evasive then??!!
Seriously, people don't make things like this up Simon. Better to hold your hands up,admit you are only human and tell us that the bloke who said that was a twat and doesn't work there any more!!!
Most of us know that original 4.0 and 4.3 Griffs didn't have 500 nose cones though. It doesn't neccesarily mean it's a bad buy though, but when the salesman wont admit it's had a shunt at some point it would put you off.
I have heard from quite a few people(and I mean Mole valley customers) that Mole Valley sales are very good. However, they all say that after sales could be improved a bit, so there is room for improvement Simon.
It's worth remembering something I used to have on my office wall.

Have been to three dealers for sales & service. Bought my 450 Chimaera from the now defunct TVR Redhill, who were super and made great tea.
My experiences with the subsequent owner Mole Valley were poor after sales service & expensive servicing.
With Fernhurst since and three services later I think are fantastic on service but also their sales guy Simon who is just what I like, knowledgable but not pushy.
and they also make a great cup of tea - what more could I ask for ?...

I always hear good things about Fernhurst, but my short and terminal experience of them was their sales guy offering me £8000 for my immaculate 93 Griff in PX for a £25k Cerb. Four other dealers offered me £12K and above. I Sold it privately for £12500.
Needless to say I wont be using them in the future, and it bears out my statement "It takes years to gain a customer- and seconds to lose one...."

I have bought TVR's from 4 differnet dealers (Broughtons, Team Central, Mole Valley and David Hendry). From personal experience Mole Valley was about the best so would reccomend them for a new or nearly new TVR.
Sales were good as was post sales, where they always seemed to fit my Griff in for work as required.
If there were a quibble then it would be that on the used front they only seem to stock nearly new TVR's - but if it works for them then so be it!
