Following on from the success of our last TVR adventure into North Wales in March its time for the final run of the summer into North Wales or as the tourist board call it ‘The Big Country’. We need something to cheer us up after all the recent rain

So here it is the North Wales 29th September Tour. It’s the last Saturday of the month.

The trip takes a fair bit of planning and time so I going to ask for a £10 donation per car to the charity Wispa - World Society for the Protection of Animals (particularly bears - you got to love em) https://www.wspadonations.org/wspauk.aspx. I’ll collect the money on the day – get those tenners ready!

The route is 179 miles. We’ll start out at 9.30 and stop for lunch around
Portmadog for lunch at 12.00ish. There’s 3 or so hours of driving in the afternoon before heading to the Lion Quays Hotel outside Owestry (OK, Chirk if your local), where we can finish up at about 5.30 pm.

We can take a few beers at Lion Quays and maybe a meal. For those who wish to stay Saturday night , I've selected Lion Quays. www.lionquays.co.uk
The rooms cost £95 for a Double and £75 for a single. They will offer lower rates just haggle.

The route will avoid the main routes and take in more challenging scenic roads. We’ll take in our favourite roads from the last trip.

We’ll start out a few miles closer at the Shrewbury Dobbies garden Centre Roundabout Roundabout. The same one used for the October tour.

I believe we had 24 cars last time so maybe we should all purchase some cheap walkie talkie this time like the Binatone MR150. See ebay http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/searc' target='_blank'> http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/searc

I've got Autoroute 2006 so you can download direction and TomTom Files. I supply details a few days before.

Anyway post if you wish to join.

Hi John,
Good one, I'll be there. I'll keep the Tamora at 4900 rpm then at 6200rpm you'll have 1300 more than me!!
Hope you get the car fixed Cat, not the same without you and your Hari Kari style of driving!! What about the Pug ?
What code of convoy etiquette will be following. Hope it's Johnbear's, if your not first your last!!

My brother would like to come along in his 911 Carrera 4S Cab (this should encourage a good turn out of Blackpool Muscle). He'll be fresh from a track day the previous day so I guess he'll be wanting to show us a thing or two on some of our favourite roads! whistle

My brother is looking forward to meeting you but after his experience yesterday he has concerns as to whether you will be in attendance.

It was a milestone birthday for him and his wife had booked a days hire of a Gallardo. She had also booked a night in an expensive hotel out of the area and the intention was obviously to go there in the Lambo.
The Lambo was delivered on time and my brother drove the delivery driver to the neaest railway station. 3 miles after dropping the guy off at the station the Lambo would not engage gear. This of coarse happened at a set of traffic lights. yikes

To cut along story short, after talking to a Lambo dealership the car had to be abandoned and my brother made his way home to collect his trustworthy Porker! The Lambo had apparantly just had a new clutch fitted due to a problem of not been able to engage gears!! banghead

Seriously though, he looks forward to seeing you.

Johnbear,

Just managed to contact CMR2Payne, he can't make this one. It's his Dad's 60th that weekend.

And?

What's family over hooning? Sorry that Cmr2Payne can't make it.

Ian (ICB) has asked how far the travel lodge is away from the Lion Quays as it's only £50, so he can get a taxi. It's only about 5 mins down the road so if anyone is interested try the Travel Lodge Oswestry.

Hemo, glad to see you again.

There's a Porker in the pack yikes

Cat01 - Ask Chris if you can use his Sat Nav?
