I own what appears to be a 400SE, but the log book says it was registered in Oct 1982 making this impossible. The chassis number is DHS380-2L and the engine number is WSS4271-4. Does anyone know if these numbers relate to 1982, or if not any possible dates. Any information greatly appreciated.

That chassis number is probably DH5380, not DHS380 and 1982 seems about right for a chassis with that number. The 2L means that the car was built as a 2-litre (Ford Cortina OHC).

Seems that is has been seriously modified since it first left the factory!

What is it described as on the registration document - and does the reg doc show the actual engine / chassis numbers that you have on the car.
