Hope you can help - I'm just about to buy my first used TVR (a cerbie) - dont want to pay over the odds to a dealership, and looking to buy private (in the 17-22k bracket).

Can anyone recommend a good specialist to give the car a once over before I purchase, preferably in NW England? I believe there is a guy in Chesterfield, but does anyone know of someone in the Manchester area, or short driveable distance?

My other option is to try the local dealer (Christopher Neil) but: (a) dont think they'll appreciated me taking in a car if not bought from them / not sure they offer this service; (b) not heard particularly glowing reports about CN.

Or RAC/AA - any good reports from them, do they offer a good enough service for TVR owners?

Thanks in advance.

I know this is not NW England, but Adrian Blyth has just received an absolutely stunning 4.5 Cerbie. The man is really reliable - just bought a Chim for him last week!. See www.adrianblyth.co.uk

Good luck.

I wouldnt bother with the AA - I was told when buying my Chimp that there was a "chip" on the gelcoat underneath the car on the drivers side !! - " it should cost you no more than £20 to put right mate...in fact u could do it yourself " !!!
Turns out my floor pan was totally ruptured and cost me £350 to put right !!
The AA didnt want to know, saying they had made reference to it !!! - Thanks !!! - Will never use them again !!

Joolz is the guy in Chesterfield. He's travelled the country inspecting cars for people from what I gather. He's a Cerbera specialist, you're unlikely to find anyone who knows as much about that particular model as Joolz.

rthierry…
which Chim did you buy from Adrian Blyth? I know he usually keeps his sold stock on-screen for a while, out of curiosity, which one is yours.
