Drivel taking the ****
Discussion
It's bollox isnt it?
How can a Ferrari 308 copy - The Honda NSX, ever be as desireable as a Tuscan?
They took the cars to Jordan F1, it was so obvious that the folks there saw the Tuscan for what it really is - and they did. And yet the tw@ts at C4 only gave it one more point!!!????
Did like seeing Mike Brewer dressed as a fairy though

I loved the practicality test - pretty irrelevant where these cars are concerned...but...Tuscan - huge boot, space behind the seats and it gets the same score as the Porker - rear seats that fold, and at the front for a gym bag.
I enjoyed the test of the cars apart from that. It was good to see Brewer enjoying himself. As for the NSX - if its good enough for the Mr Wolf, its good enough for me.

Excellent!!! The look on their faces when they all picked the TVR was superb!
Best bit was the young lad who flicked the buttons in the Ferrari and said "£100K for this???" Spot on.
The three twats were absolutely gutted that the TVR won. Brilliant!!

Call me cynical, but I'm sure the director had decided before the shoot that it was the Tiv's turn to win as it usually gets beat by Porkers when judged by the motoring press. That's why the Tuscan beat the 911 by only 1 reluctant mark.
If Jo Public was doing the scoring, they'd have given a much bigger range of scores, and I'm sure the Tuscan would've won hands down.

Think you have a point here as the bosses at Blackpool must be pi**ed off, keeping supplying cars only to get slagged off. At the end of the day, the producers are making a 30 minute TV programme and it does no harm to keep the scores even(ish) up to the end and then for the underdog to come out on top occasionally. Trevor Brooking TV really – ie bland.
TVR owner one day
I think nubbin summed up the difference between porkers and Tivs superbly in the 'Drivel again' thread, and it was proved last night. When cornering in the 911 old Brewery just planted his boot and got a nice box of electronics to distribute the oomph without a hint of life emerging from the car. It is like a robot rather than a characterful being, leaving the driver cold and emotionless and feeling left out. On the other hands Tivs seem to have a bit of life in them (from reading the thread about people having a few hairy moments) - at least they are alive and can kick back with a bit of character.
Sorry if this is getting a bit deep, but electronics seem to be taking over the driving experience. It seems that if car makers in general can't build a chassis that handles well (Porsche excluded, it does handle well) they just sort it out by throwing a bit of active this and that at it, and game over. I'm just glad they decided against the active suspension system in my performance Astra (1.4 estate).

Agreed, all this electronic trickery is not necessarily a good thing. My girlfriend has a TT (quicker than you mighty think too) and I turn the ESP off whenever I'm in a pressing on mood. The reason for this is that it's cut the power on me several times when I didn't want it to. Especially when I've pulled out of side junctions ... not fun having the car 'die' on you in those situations.
The Quattro system on the TT is not as good as the original Audi Quattros either. Mind you, it's 4WD and the TVR isn't. I can slide the TVR out of a junction, but I think I'm probably safer in the TT with ESP off in the long run.
I guess ESP/traction aids are great for the inexperienced though!
ABS would be useful in a TVR though ...

Thanks for the nod, foggy. The marking on that programme was pathetic in it's bias - Jason Plato is the main problem - the other two believe everything he says, because he's a racing driver - the fact that he is unbelievably biased towards Porsche means he sways the other two - the woman is an fawning idiot.
Still, I liked the section where Brewer got to feel that buzz of acceleration we get every time we get into our Tivs. Waheyheyhey!! - sums it all up!!
I'm not sure about all these traction aids - They're designed to stop you getting into hairy situations, and preventing any excessive actions by the car or your right foot, particularly. Howver, I've learnt that reading the road, checking weather conditions, concentrating on the actions of other drivers, etc, etc is also quite useful in peventing unwanted situations from arising. In short, I'm learning to control a car, and drive with common sense, rather than relying on electronic devices to prevent my "gung-ho-ness" from ending in injury or calamity. ABS would be nice, to allow steering whilst performing emergency braking, but I'd have it switchable, 'cos it's useless in snow/ice, but other than that, keep it raw!

the desirability test was indeed pathetically scored, but even worse was the explantion as to why TVR had won. Ended with that short twat saying the tiv had been favourite because the people at Jordan would rather pocket the cost difference???
I mean come on its a desirability test those people there were not actually being asked to sign on the dotted line that day they picked the Tiv because it's so damn sexy...of course i am biased but look at the other two, they looked so damn plain by comparison.
TVR are prouducing the most indiviual, revouloutionary(styling) sports cars in the world and their BRITISH!!!
Not once did this fact arise in the whole poxy show (ok its not the be all and end all if somethings crap its crap no matter who makes it).. but heres a car prouduced by a relatively small british firm toughing it out with what are perceived as the world's best and winning on many fronts surely this is worth some credit.
If the situation was reversed I am sure the german's would have far more pride in a small giant killer that is TVR.
(Only redeeming point was that all three muppets were gutted by the decision hurrrrrraaahhh!! )

And yet the scores there were only one point apart? The decider was running costs!
