Offord Motor Co...?
Discussion
Not had anything mechanical done there yet, but they did my rear speakers for me, and did a perfectly good job of it.
Everyone seemed thoroughly nice too, and they seemed knowledgeable when I peppered them with questions about various bits of my car.
The combination of good prices, locality (hoo-bloody-ray, compared to Kings Lynn), and their rather care-free attitude towards lending out their courtesy car, all conspires to make them look like a good bet.

Offord are very good, helpful, honest, good value and the standard for work is excellent. They tell you when work does and importantly does not need to be done! If there is a problem then they sort it quickly and without fuss. I can heartily recommend them and do! My Griff is in next week for a radiator re-core.
My S3 has been serviced here for the past year and a half. After my first service there, whilst driving home on the outside lane of the Peterborough bypass in rush hour, the engine died. I coasted to a stop onto the grass as far off the road as possible, fortunately avoiding the scrum of reps and truckers caught in 2 minds between making frantic hand signals at me and trying to avoid a multiple pile up! As it turned out somebody had leant on the coil leads and almost snapped them but not quite. I knew this because a plastic connector pipe in the vicinity was also broken and a very poor attempt at gluing it together had been made. Obviously I was incandescent and the logical conclusion would be that Offords were to blame. I rang Simon the next day, he was very sympathetic but insistent that Offords were not to blame after speaking to his mechanics. I had had some work done elsewhere the month before so it was possible that the damage had been done there. Simon was very helpful and after ordering a new coil sent a mechanic to my house, 40 miles away, to fit it FOC. I accepted what Simon had said to me but I was a bit wary of using them again. However I gave them the benefit of the doubt and used them again 6 months ago. I remember driving there, roof off, on a beautiful spring morning thinking how well the car was running. I collected the car that evening drove down the road and I could not believe it...the car was running like a 3 legged dog, missing and jerking along. Not again! Needless to say I took the car straight back and left it with them. They couldn't understand it because all they'd done was a standard 12k service. In the end, after a lot of investigation, they discovered the problem. The cylinder head had been skimmed (elsewhere 6 months previous) and they'd taken so much off, that the pistons were hitting the spark plugs and had virtually eliminated the gap on one bank of cylinders. I must say I am still amazed at how well the car was running with a weak spark in 3 cylinders! Anyway the cylinder head skimming was done at the same time that the coil leads etc. could have been mysteriously damaged. It all started to make sense. Offords fixed the problem and charged me for only half the labour that had been involved.
I have totally exhonerated Offords in my mind and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to any other TVR owner. Simon is a top bloke and a fellow enthusiast to boot.
