I will be collecting my first TVR in less than 265 hours (roughly ;o)) and I am busy sorting out insurance. The premium is hefty since I have no NCB - been on my wife's policy for a while... you know cheap and convenient! The car is a 98S 4.5 Chim, the poor thing will be parked on a quiet London street ( - if anyone has a spare space in a garage somewhere in North West London please let me know. The three best quotes I have received are:
Admiral: £1370 with £750 excess (blimey!)
Sunninghill £1536 with £500 excess or £1730 with £250 excess. The Sunninghill quotes also come with a full RAC Breakdown Assistance (incl. Roadside, recovery, Onward Travel and European Cover), it also includes 30 days of European use and Track Day cover (£1000 excess)

How does it compares with the other Londoners out there? Which one would you go for?

Thanks

PLA

I think I should add that Sunninghill is giving me a 2 year introductory NCB whilst Admiral is giving me 50% NCB if my wife insure her car with them - big deal it's a Smart !!
This would imply that Sunninghill base rate is significantly lower than Admiral's.

Will try A Manning tomorrow - thanks

Same situatiion as you ( 450 Chimp W Reg) but A Manning gave me 2 years introductory no claims and were the best price by miles. (Speak with Neil)They also do reduced mileage rates which can save you a lot of money.

All the best

Thats not too bad...

A friend of mine, who is American, recently got a quote for a 4.5 Cerbie. He's 22, 4 years UK driving experience, parking a 2 year old Cerbie on the street in the East End.

They quoted him....wait for it....£13K with a £3K excess.

I found that to be somewhat extracting the urine!!!!

I got quotes from both Sunninghill and Cheam, and went for Cheam in the end as the Sunninghill policy had some extra benefits I didn't need (like RAC cover as I'm already a member), which made the Cheam policy cheaper for me.

They both seem to be very good on policy features (liek inclusive track day cover) & price though.

I did the usual rounds with the insurance companies before I got my Tuscan. The best quote was from Privilege. But they did insist that I had a Tracker fitted.

A-One insurance have always been reasonable and so have TVR Insurance. the latest one people are going to is Tesco online. Yes it sounds crappy but if the cover is the same and the payments are cheaper who cares

Tescos were half the price of Admiral on my Audi A8 (Group 20) £551 for a 12 month policy as opposed to £964 for 10 months on Admiral, and only a few more pounds for protected no claims.

I've referred loads of people to Tescos and they all have bettered their existing premiums. 5% further discount for booking over the web, or you can negociate that if your car is not listed or the site crashes on you

Also Tescos automatically includes business use (Class 1). This could cost 10-15% extra on a regular policy, worth thinking about if take the odd business trip.

PS I don't work for them, but they are offering stonking deals at present

My A8 cost over £900, twice (Independant fiasco). I will be checking out Tesco for sure.

Just insured my son's Metro 1.1 for him to learn in, (go on I know I'm such a softie aren't I buying him a decent motor like this as a learner!)

Anyway Tesco's were by far the best deal and as much as 30-40% cheaper to some. Rich... still not cheap though

I just tried them too .....

They don't have any S2 models listed on the web, so I had to call them ....

'88 S2 (1.5) parked on driveway, deepest Berkshire, meself + Doris, unlimited miles, for business use ... £586 fully comp, which is OK - not stunning (forgot to to ask for quote garaged)

Ironic thing is I plugged in my current motor, and they'd save me over £200 (525i auto estate = £376)
