Yep, estemed, though slightly mad gents that you all are, I've 'done the dream' and put down my deposit cheque on a Griff 500. Getting some insurance sorted and am looking at Mannings and Sunninghill (in london, 30, previous classic car so no NCB) Any other suggestions welome. Minor freaking at the cash involved and scour this site as I have I can't find any comments on Hamiltons Dealers in Bristol - anybody used ? Good /bad experiences ? In addition the cars reg is N729 GLC anybody know it ? Looked pretty bloody lovely to me but any previous history/advice appreciated.

Adam,

Norton (Heritage) are worth a quote (0121-246-6060)

Enjoy the car!

Cheers,

Dave.

Totally agree with Dave H. The best thing that Norton's Heritage policy is that you don't need any NCB (although you don't build any up either) and it's still low cost.

Ideal for second car insurance.

Recently did the same thing - which is the realisation of a dream for me. Fantastic!

Heritage were my choice after spending ages getting quotes.

If you have only paid a very small deposit, it may be worth getting a specialist to look it over before you hand over the big money. Peninsula are not that far down the m'way - may be money well spent. If you've put down a tidy sum already, then forget I mentioned it!

Enjoy!

Bought my Chim from Hamiltons. Dominic is very helpful. Have had no probs with the car, just as well as he does not seem to have any decent warranty cover. More of a gentlemans agreement that he will sort things if needs be.

Swanjack - cheers for your response - quite agree with you about the 'Gentlemans agreement' - how long have you had your Chim ?

Thanks to everyone else on the insurance tip too.

About 8 months and no probs whatsoever. His prices are far cheaper than my local dealer and he gave me what my dealer had offered on my pt-ex. He has been around for about 10 years although Porkers were his speciality.

I'd swap a warranty for a longterm reliable service any day of the week ... but then my car's been around a few years so it's bedded in ... I sincerely hope.

I bought a Chimaera with similarish registration number from the same source. Email me for further info but basically no real problems to date. He will have changed the rear number plate to one that does not illuminate, which you will need to change back. I use Peninsula for servicing - very good and not too extortionately expensive.
