Hi Peps..
I need some advise here..
After making me usual monthly trip to sainsbury, to do m shopping..I came back to find that my (Chim 400) hood had been slash with a knife by some sad bastard with nothing better to do.

After speaking to the lovely guys at mole-valley...I was quoted :

Option 1: full hood retrim - £1024
Option 2: Rear hood retrim - £750
Option 3: Restiching of rear plastic window - £450

Am not happy with this prices...
Does any one know of any good trimmers that might do the retriming for a more desent price...??

Thanks guys & Gals

If your hood was tatty anyway, or if you've got full NCB, why not just claim it on your insurance? Get a nice new hood, the colour you want, and it will help the re-sale value.

The Hood was not in a tatty condition to start with, and I'd rather get it fixed personaly than claim it on my insurance...

I don't believe in running to my insurance company for small problems..

I tried to contact several hood manufacturers, to see about getting a folding soft top for my Chimaera. They seem to do only standard fit stuff, but they may be able to help. Try www.soft-tops.co.uk (London based) - they do replacement rear windows.

Just a friendly reminder that people should be careful posting comments about individuals or companies. Postings here can and have been quoted in legal proceedings.

Peninsula Automotive are definitely cheaper than the prices you have quoted here - I've not had any hood work done by them but I think others on the list might have. I'd give someone like them a try if you're not happy with London Main Dealer prices.

Petrolted.

This would only apply if the comment is liable / deformation of character not if it is a genuine explanation of an experience.
As house of Horrors does. NAME AND SHAME.

Had my hood completely re-trimmed at Peninsula for about GBP600 ish I think. Brilliant job, which included targa, back folding thingy and rear plastic window. I think they do the window separately for about a GBP100. Avoid TVR dealers; they seem to have their own disproportional pricing mechanism!!!!

Rob

What will they do for that quote? Just replace the plastic or what? Well done for finding that out though - hopefully I will never need it!

If it's just the plastic window that gone, any good coach trimmer should be able to replace it for around £100-150.
I have hard it being done for £70, if you take the hood off youself.
I don't live in your area so it's no good me recomending anyone.

Good Luck Mark

Jealously maybe..
am only 24, but I look about 18..
I have had some bad experiences with arse holes, who in thier own twisted why believe its not right for me to drive a car like mine...

So I guess the thought the knifing the hood was a good way of expressing thier disapprovement....

This is olayeefosa re-registered as bling now!!!!

Only makes me more determined to keep the car.....

Im slightly concerned about the amount of vandalism that appears to be taking place. Luckily for me I allways leave my car in the garage and very rarely take it anywhere where it will be left unattended.
Have these attacks just started taking place, or have people just started to mention them cos everyone else is?

Well, Ive had TVRs for 5years now and had no real problems with them, or aggressive drivers, or anything but good comments on the car(s) for years..

However, last week my missus noted some lovely scratches on the boot of the Chimaera..

Perhaps it is a more recent thing
