Twin cooling fan problem
Discussion
I posted in Chim. section previous, thanks for advise but I need more help!!!
I HAVE 93'k' 430 Chimaera, fitted with air (not working, no gas).
Cooling fans come on nearside first followed shortly by other one, apparently possibly fitted with delayed relay to prevent fuse blowing.
The problem is sometimes only one fan comes on and sometimes neither then overheat.
Also fans only work with engine running not with engine stopped and ignition on.
Have otter switch overide switch but does,t affect problem.
Can any body help or tell me where I can find the relay/relays or get a wiring diagram etc. to sort the problem. 'Mole Valley' had the car recently but as the problem is intermitant and was ok at the time they 'couldn,t fix it till it,s broke'.
Would the air con. have anything to do with it.
Thanks all happy TVRing.

If the otter switch override doesn't, my armchair mechanic approach would be to suspect the relays or fans themselves.
If the car's hot, the fans should come on with the ignition. You know, ignition on to open boot, shopping in boot, all the while it sounds like electrolux's finest is going ape up the front...

I had 2 fans on my old 350 and they both came on at the same time so I assume that fuses and relays can handle it? Not much help I know but is there progressive cooling? Are you able to get a meter to the fans and check the resistance and waggle the wires/joints that go to them and see if it changes. Then if you find the fuse meter the circuit. Another point is the earth, any good? Also there is normally another relay on the board that can be used for a check (make sure it is the same and not criticle)
