Smolensky Interview in Swiss Autorevue
Discussion
Hi Folks
What Mr Smolenski sais here is somewhat contradictory to what the Americans say in the Orlando article. Headquarter to move to Lancaster!?
2008 Tuscan with 4,5l AJP-V8! New price for Typhon 85000.- Pounds. Maybe production somewhere in Britain? Doesn´t sound too bad....but
The TVR-Telenovela continues...

More on the automobiles revue:
To the articleWe tried it some months long - nevertheless despite several promises Nikolai Smolenski was not to be achieved. End last week it then nevertheless folded: In the interview the old and new TVR owner spoke lehrjahre in the automobile industry and her about English problems, its future of the English sports car sportwagen-Manufaktur.
Automobile revue: Mr. Smolenski, Sie the trademark laws and thus control of TVR had lost. What passed last December?
Nikolai Smolenski: The decision to page production out was already made in October. For Blackpool of automotives we have then the best partner gesucht. the contract fit, but due to measurement events all did not see that in such a way. In order to avoid a right controversy for many years, as one had to see him once with Jensen or Healey, I did however in favor of the company without my rights.
With the risk to lose everything? They have nevertheless over 40 million Pound invested...
I was waiting simply and counted to possess still another little money to be able to redeem the rights. The whole thing was naturally very annoying. But most small series manufacturers are not at present well. And if over the sport automobile industry a dark cloud hangs, hardly someone has interest in such marks. For me the buy-back was a loss reduction.
Do they hope for a turn?
Clearly, no question, so far we did not have a success. Now it concerns the question whether in the future is possible. The autorail is questionable.
Darf one you under these circumstances congratulates?
Still it is not to end...
How do you mean that?
I sold the world-wide TVR rights to distribute to my new American business partners Adam Burdette and Jean Michel Santacreu: The two worry first about the selling; I hold myself there completely raus.
Does it concern those US importers, with whom they were already in August 2006 commercialunited and that per year want to sell 2000 TVR in the United States?
Yes, but there is a contract only since 27 February. Burdette and Santacreu wanted to get only 45 US dealers, and that lasted.
And who is now the boss?
I am owner, the management team am responsible.
Would you like to separate from TVR?
My contract with the Americans contains a "management Buyout": Those may rauskaufen me and I say good-bye, as soon as I am paid off. This option inkludiert a profit for me it probably hardly a partnership will beyond that give: Perhaps I am a too strong personality, anyhow am interested one not in it.
If you wait for it, to be paid off, you remain sometimes preserved TVR still longer...
If we sell 2008 like planned 5000 cars, wars I my money completely fast back. We have already 2000 orders.
How much did Burdette and Santacreu pay you money for the rights to distribute?
Ten million Pound. But the money flows again into the company.
They do not belong thus any longer to the management. What will you do up to a possible door?
Managing Director David Oxley and I care us together for new company headquarters and coming models. I concentrate me on the financing and all affairs of contract.
Where is the new location to now be and which it contains?
It will give new company for the development and the selling of cars. It is registered next week and TVR management or is called so similar. TVR headquarters remains in England. There is two options - Lancaster 20 miles north of Blackpool or an area beside the airport Farnborough with London. It looks however rather like Lancaster: There a management and a styling office develop; 20 people will remain, among other things Benjamin long as a new development boss. It in former times already was with TVR. Everything else inclusive production one pages out.
What happens with the remaining jobs in Blackpool?
Those does not give it then any longer.
Can you understand that some people are sour on you?
I can. And the aggressions do not have raus, I have a problem thereby. But the dismantling was necessary. And finally one must also see that I am that, which lost at most money. In these days there is a creditors' meeting, and 260 people will try to pull me for responsibility.
It harms that it ran in such a way...
Which concerns the sales of Blackpool of automotives at Stamekov, I would have had to know it better. It was simply important to me that production can remain in England. Only, I wanted to have myself to care no longer for it: I would like to make dear development or conceive new cars instead of from nine to five to control, who straight is ill.
When is the manufacturing again taken up?
This year still, probably in June. Starting from the first quarter 2008 then one delivers.
Where one produces? With Bertone in Italy?
Possibly. Me would rather be England; Lotus already stated interest. But England is a tragedy, and one probably expects to be able to paint by the contract with me own losses which does not go naturally.
Are Tuscan and Sagaris continued to build?
Yes. The cars will have traction control and an exhaust certifying, which in Europe, which is valid the USA and Japan.
It means, the Tuscan is to be called then GT...
We discussed that, but it remains with Tuscan. 2010 come the Mk III with 4,5-Liter-V8, the AJP8. The Sagaris keeps however the in any case six cylinder speed Six.
What from the 2+2-sitzigen new model did Typhoon become, which you wanted to originally show in Geneva?
That is pointed as model on the birthday party to the 60-jaehrigen mark anniversary on 16 April. 2008 give it then 60 copies - however only for people, which supported TVR so far. The car will cost very fast and 85000 Pound - if we it to create.
And the speed 12?
The speed 12 Mk III comes 2009 and is supercharged, we wants it however only for ten times to build and exclusive in England sell. The car is our answer to Bugatti.
Those are ambitious plans. If you had as in 2004 again the choice: Would you take over TVR again?
TC, it gave at that time different prospective customers. But probably Wheeler was so highly indebted that he needed an offer like mine. I surely overrated the automobile industry: Details background and difficulties experience one only if one in it-puts. Fortunately I used only two years, in order to understand that everyone can do only a small part. But TVR existed further, it ran thus not much wrongly. Now we make a new management model, which did not give it so far yet. And I am strained whether it functions.
Not perfect, but you get the gist of it!

Intersting
Maybe the muppet has learned from his mistakes...Sells the rights to the Sagaris to a couple of loud muppets in the States along with a license to use the TVR brand in the states to keep the press and "US" off his back. Meanwhile, has listened to "Us lot" and is developing the Griff replacement Tuscan II vert with a v8.
So long as no one realises he's still involved (as he knows his name is mud) so use someone else to front it when its ready to launch, it could work.

Anyone any ideas when this interview was performed?
9th March www.automobilrevue.ch/artikel_18807.html
This interview shows yet again how incompetent Smo'ski is. He has NO successes to present whatsoever, yet talks about them a lot. Why is it that I don't trust his optimistic views of the future and his abnormal freak business models?
Matthias Pfannmüller, who conducted the interview, writes an interesting article that complements the interview, in which he even quotes Pistonheads!

I'm sure someone will post the full translation but this bit's interesting:
"For example with the internal engines. A TVR dealer, who would in particular not like to be named, confirms: “Main annoyance began in the Wheeler era, because with its national illusion wanted to use no foreign engines, for example from BMW. And which is happened? The eight and six cylinder even made collapsed by the dozen! About the processing of the cars we do not want only at all to talk.”"

Ah Mr P, I thought I recognised the name... I didn't realise you were a fellow Pistonheader. I've no particular contribution to this thread, apart from to say that I've not seen you drop by The Sweeney Lounge for a while and that it would be good to see you again.

It's a fair cop guv

Well I am totally confused now. My German is darn near perfect as I have lived here for 13 years and what is saying is strange.
The yanks only have the world wide distribution rights with a management buyout option and they only invested 10 million quid!
All design etc is to stay in the UK most likely Lancaster(announcement next week) and no mention of production in Italy! now Lotus look likely to build the cars.
I wish he would just make his bloody mind up
As for the new models I like the sound of the new supercharged speed 12 and V8 Tuscan

Suggest you brush up your German
The interviewer actually asks him whether production will be at Bertone in Italy, to which he replies 'possibly', although he admits that he would prefer it to be in England. Lotus does not 'look likely' to build the cars at all. All NS says is that Lotus has 'expressed an interest'. He also states that the problem with them would be that they would want to wipe out their own debts by entering a contract with himself, which he says is a 'no-goer'. Jesus, you can see why this forum throws up so many untruths and rumours, can't you
Oh my God, just seen the bit about Oxley helping with ideas for forthcoming models
