Bought some Mobil 1 at the weekend from Halfrauds, they had both 0-40 and 15-50 (motor sport), I went for the 0-40, but as I've not opened it yet I would also be interested to see what people think.

0-40 is quite thin for the speed 6. It'll work great but you should expect her to "drink" some, so check regularly. I think others have recommended 5-40, if you can find it (?)

I understood that 0-40 is recommended for the SP6 as you need the oil to get to the head quickly on cold starts.

Agreed, 0-40 is the recommended oil. If you ask Opie Oils they will advise the same, but to use a mineral rather than synthetic oil with the same viscosity.

Is their actually any difference in the viscosity between 0-40 & 5-40 at normal operating temperatures? I thought it was the 2nd number (40) that represents the viscosity at operating temp and the first number the relative temp that the oil starts to work?

probably does not make much difference in the UK temperate climate, I think "0" represents -30c or something stupid.

I was recommended by HHC to use 15/50 motor sport.
