Hi, Just a post to say be very careful if you come across a Billy Forster from Tyne & Wear.

You may have seen he was selling a pair of 16" chim wheels ( black ) in great condition, check the ad it's still there.
Well I bought them for £220 with tyres and postage, great deal I thought!
A week after I got them I had them re-sprayed and put on my chim. They looked amazing, until I drove the car. It had a massive amout of vibration going through it,I could only just hold the wheel, so I went and had them balanced up. What I was told p1ssed me off, they are very badly buckled and are only fit for the bin.
Second opinion I thought so off to shop #2, I was told the same, they are fooked!

So I phoned Billy to tell him and all he said was, no there not! I asked him if he would have them back for the same price, he said no and if you want to take me to court good luck as I haven't worked for four years.

So be very aware of anything he is selling, I'm £380 out of pocket. Don't join me !!

Surely they can't be that badly buckled or someone would have noticed ?? Buckled wheels can be straightened by professionals, about 25 quid per wheel.........

Believe me they are very bad, they are beyond repair with weights alone ( it needs as many weights as they put on lorries) and it's still very bad. As far as having them straightened, they were sold to me in (very good condition) buckled is not very good condition in my book. I have also heard its not a good idea to start straightening wheels.

This company seems to be able to repair some very bad cases:

I would still pursue this, even if he ends up paying it back at £5 per-week. Also mention that you believe he is running a business so you will be notifying the DSS, Tax Office and VAT Office.

Good idea on the dss thing. Im just so p1ssed off that he would sell them in the condition they are. I could have done the same thing and sold them on here or fleebay, but its just not the done thing.

Thanks

buyer beware in terms of a private sale....

only comment I would make is that you obviously doubled your loss by painting them and getting tyres fitted before driving and noticing the vibration.

if you had taken them to a tyre place in the first instance and asked for them to be spun for balance / checked over you would have been better off.

Thank goodness we have a resident lawyer on PH judge

I believe that LeeTVR is well aware what 'Caveat Emptor' means.....readit what with him being a grown up.

Only comment I would make is that you like stating the obvious, don't you? Very obviously, in fact. Your logic is unassailable. You have a gift nerd

Anyway, back to the important meaning of this thread. LeeTVR - sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately some people are rogues and have no guilty conscience at all. All we can hope for is that Billy Foster sees the error of his ways, or perhaps loses a foot in a threshing accident. Either way, it's bad Karma.

Don't give up mate - there's still some genuine people about - not Pasco though - he's a bit dodgy.....

there is talk below about persuing the matter via courts etc so it seemed he did not realise that all bets are off in a private sale.

this is where ebay is better for this type of stuff as the guy would have a +/- rating suggesting his trustworthiness and an ability to claw back money.

was indeed pointing out the obvious re checking wheels before painting, but point I was making is that when the tyres were refitted the company must have tried balancing them before fitting them to the car. In which case you have to ask which planet they were on as presumably they charged the poor sod also

Probably best we don't continue this discussion here if it's going to court.
