Anyone have the experience of comparing the 3.6 Litre cars (say a Tamora/Tuscan 3.6) with the 4.0 Litre S specification cars (Tuscan 2S/Saggy)? How big is the gap?

I think it depends a lot on the way the specific car, if it’s had a tune up recently (throttle pot alignment, etc) and when the engine was built/rebuilt. I remember chasing a 2003 Tuscan S in my 2002 3.6L Tuscan which was totally standard but had recently had a rebuilt and just been re set up on a laptop by Silverstone Performance. I constantly had to keep backing off to avoid running into the back of him as we accelerated to XXXmph.

Although on average the 4.0 cars are no doubt a little quicker.

iv driven my T350 and a sag, to be honest, the only noticable difference in a straight line is you feel the torque earlier in the rev range, in the corners the sagaris feels more confidence inspiring... but i didnt go fast enough to find out if that was a false sense of confidence in physical grip terms, for now at least, i'll be sticking with the T350 with its more brutal nature.

the sag made me giggle like a child all the way down the road, probably due to having a mad bulge in the bonnet which is visible from in the cabin, the outragous but stunning colour and the looks it got.

my T350 is more subtle (but makes more noise), i love it and as much as i want a sag, i can't seem to let my car go, i WILL own a saggy paps one day though!

Anyone know what the bhp difference is? Sags were once quoted at 406bhp but I'm told 350 is nearer the truth.

i'd hazard a guess at 375+, but thats not the point, the 4 litre has a very noticable improvement in torque

i'd second that, driven t350 and tamora not as brutal lower down the rev range

i had a 4.0 ltr Tuscan Factory red rose before my t350 which was definetly quicker in response & torque but then it never felt as stable as the t350.

I had a 2006 T350 for a month whilst my Tuscan S was being repaired and whilst the T350 was an incredible leap forward in terms of quality it was noticelby slower in any rev range in any situation. I was really blown away by teh usability of the T350 but totally turned off by its relative lack of power which is a shame as it would make an excellent urban Tiv.

I've had a Tam and T350t 3.6 and now have a Saggy. Saggy has only done 3k miles so can't really compare like for like, tam had done 18k and T350 14k.

The Saggy definately has more grunt lower down and is less effort to drive around town, but the Tam and T350 seamed to rev through easier. I think the saggy is deceptive though, you can exploit the power easier, the handling is on a different planet to the Tam and T350, which i was suprised at. Steering gives alot more confidence and feals more fluid, must be the revised geometry, pick up points and extra track.

I now have a Tuscan 2 S, and it would blow away my previous Tamora and T350!

This is in my opinion, but it feels much quicker.

T350 was scarey over 100mph, Tam was much better, but the Tuscan S is a proper rocket!

New Gaz shocks have also made a difference, however I think the driver makes a difference.

A couple of my mates who are definately better drivers than myself would easily keep up in any TVR.

Anyway they are all fast and amazing so get your foot down!

I had a T350 (3.6) and test drove the Saggy and though my 3.6 felt faster as it reved quicker.

The salesman then made the excese that the saggy needed a service and it's tappets doing..

At the speed 6 rolling road day - all the S6 engines produced within 16bhp of each other. Which when you think of it is an amazing result that all were so close.

It seemed to make no difference if they were red rose or not.

Sadly my T350 was for sale and the misses was gonna put my balls in a mangle if it expired on the rollers - so the 3.6 did not do that .. but others have said the 3.6 offers the same power.

My T350 3.6 was exactly the same in terms of straight line performance vs a Tuscan S at Oulton Park - I was following him around for several laps. Afterwards I carefully checked by talking with the owner that is was a 4.0S spec etc. etc.

4.0Ls feel torquier, which is better for on-the-road driving in reality. But 3.6s don't seem to be any slower.

I just realized, this is similar to the Cerbera 4.2 vs 4.5 engine situation.

Disagree

I had two T350s loved them but in terms of out and out speed/torque/pull however you
want to describe it my Tusc 2S Conv. is WAYYYYYYY ahead! I'm only up to 6k but it's opening up beautifully!

Maybe you've got a really good T2 and the T350s were not quite so 'on spec'. That's the magic of TVRs (or should that be 'That's the problem with TVRs'?)
