Smolenski reacquires Blackpool Automotive 23 February 2007
The assets of Blackpool Automotive, the former production division of TVR, have been reacquired by TVR owner Nikolai Smolenski after it went into administration at the end of last year. The acquisition secures the marque's trademarks and intellectual property rights, which were tied up in the company.
Production of the famous sports cars can now resume as planned at a more sophisticated plant in Europe. The move will enable TVR to increase its volumes and to achieve type approvals for global markets.
Some essential component manufacturing will remain in the UK, including the engines and drivetrains being developed by specialist partner Ricardo. The design team and office personnel will also remain in the country in a new headquarters, which will in time also house some production and servicing facilities.
The consolidated range of current TVRs, now comprising the Sagaris, Tuscan S and Tuscan S convertible, will be joined by the Typhoon, a 600 bhp supercharged supercar set to be unveiled later in the year. Orders for the current models are still being taken by the network of authorised dealers. "

Frankly I hope nobody from the UK places an order. The current inept owner needs to be driven back into administration so that a new passionate and business wise owner can take control. scotty1 said:

There was plenty of capacity at Blackpool
I've said it before on other forums so I'll say it again here. It's time to move on and put all of this crap behind us.
To make TVR a success they need people to buy cars, it was PW who took the company to the edge not Smolenski. NS poured millions into the business to improve quality, many time more than Wheeler ever did.
This is 'THE' TVR forum, it should be positive, we need to attrack people to the marque not turn then away. I'm a relative new boy I've only had two tivs, I've had no bother with either and my dealer does all that needs to be done, warrenty work or otherwise.
TVR's are fantasic cars, there is very little to touch them for style, speed and rarity without spending mega money.
Come on guy's lets sell TVR for what it is, the best sports car in the world.

I would hope that Ricardo have more common sense than to just believe the web site PR.
They are the ones that stand to have their reputation seriously damaged if there is any further fall out: finacially or publicity fall out that is!

To be fair to Ricardo, i'm sure they haven't got this far without knowing that. I'm sure they believe the engine can be sorted without any fall out. They wouldn't have taken it on if there was the slightest chance of damage to their own name.

So the cheapest TVR on sale will be both the Sagaris and Tuscan S at £49,999?
Tuscan S will be the cheapest at £55812, the Sagaris will be £58750 both without any options.

Also, does this mean that if an order was placed for a Tuscan S , we have to live with the not to keen styling kit (ie. rear spoiler)?
The larger rear spoiler was a no cost option, the smaller spoiler can be specified.
I agree that this is the place to be positive about TVR, but still critical with the products; and like every other place, maintain ethics strongly.
Smolensky restored his business at the expense of TVR's stakeholders and thus does not earn even the slightest bid of trust anymore. Roll on the next reboot of the company with new trusted owners!

Whilst i whole heartedly agree with many about the way the staff have been treated, etc. etc. It should also be noted that whilst NS is at the head of the ship, it was his management team that pushed events the way they went (DO etc.)
NS has been incredably niaive and acted impulsively to HIS detrement..maybe he has learned from this very expensive experience and the fact the he has put his hands deep in his pockets AGAIN to get the TVR BRAND back up and running deserves a little support and not the continued lambasting on here.
I for one hope that he will now LISTEN to sound advise offered to him and start the hard climb pack up to the top again. Our continued attempts to kick him in the nuts will only serve to do one thing - Kill the TVR brand permanently.

Should you not be leading the way
The press release says "Production of the famous sports cars can now resume as planned at a more sophisticated plant in Europe".
On 19 February, a company called TVR ITALIA S.R.L. filed an EU application for the trade mark "TVR Italia".
See www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?p=6&f=13&t=359782&h=0 (at the bottom).
This brand, which will seem like a sick joke to many, was perhaps filed after NS knew that he had won the bidding for BA and regained the existing IP. It backs up stories about production in Italy, though whether any cars ever get built there (or anywhere else) remains to be seen.

I don't see how anyone can currently support or promote the TVR brand with any credibility when no one knows how the production cars will turn out from a new, unspecified European factory with a new workforce and with new engine and drive train partners. Just too many unknowns all ways round. Maybe it will be good enough to justify the prices...
