is that all sum of you do, i have said this before and i will say it again

smolenski saved TVR which was about to go bankrupt

he helped keep it alive and still is, has always had plans and never intended to stop to progress the brand/marque

please dont reply saying 'what about us workers' as i too used to work for TVR and no longer do

....if any of you lot owned a car company i am sure you would know it is economically viable to produce them overseas

its as if you all jump on the bandwagon and are all saying the same thing without even knowing the guy, making such remarks as russki and people say 'takes handouts from his dad'...SO! whose parents never helped them? and would you not ever help your kids, be it if you had £50 or £50 million

What has he saved though ?

A car company that doesn't make cars.

I know I'm thick, but I don't understand what you're saying.

The trouble is that if he does succeed it will be with a car that is too expensive for many. And so there is some upset there. Plus, please don't forget that he is foreign and so if you are a fully paid up member of the BNP then you'll obviously be upset by that. Being bankrolled by daddy has upset some people but then most startups in this country are family funded.

I own a cheap plastic kettle, I've had it for many years. Should I hate the owner of the company that made the kettle all those years ago because I haven't been invited onto the Board of Directors or consulted on regarding future kettles?

Some people may not actually realise that Al Murray is comedy act either.

NS produced good cars and if the engine is sorted by Ricardo and the chassis and shell built in SA and it's all put together in Italy then we could be looking at a very, very exciting set of cars. Especially if a they are able to open up a European sales flow.

While I am dubious of the looks of the Typhoid I really cannot wait to see a new Sag out on the streets.

This is great news as far as I am concerned. The TVR brand will not be caught up in a decade of legal wranglings, the company is free to either be sold on as a complete package or take a big step forward.

NS's plans are very ambitious and like PW's plans for a 6 pot they could fail but my God how amazing will it be if he pulls it off.

well said, at last someone with sense. Move on guy's. I'm lucky enough to have a new Tuscan 2s and when the time comes for replacement if NS is selling I for one will buy another.

Did'nt he royally cock it up by not taking advice, & falling out with everyone.

Surely TVR was always as much about the brains behind the scenes. NS failed to retain all these brains, so exacerbating the demise.

In short, it needed more than just money to pump in. It needed experience, foresight, management & understanding. NS had none of these, hence he failed.

I am with this thread however bad a business man you have got to cut the guy some slack, if the reports are true and he did throw 30 odd mill into TVR it just proves he wants it to work, he tried to address quality and reliablity and if you listen to most on here nowadays went a long way to achieving it with later models. He introduced the 3 year warranties etc etc basically he did all the things people were suggesting (minus crated engine)when he took over, maybe his only mistake in my opinion was poor marketing and customer service...as for the workers this guy had no intention of blowing 30 mill and sacking loads of people, this was just the result of the company not selling cars and going bust...

I wish everyone would just move on because any new buyers simply come to this site and get put off....the sooner he starts building again the better in my opinion then hopefully we can all move on and enjoy the cars again..... soapbox moment over

Right Im walking into this thread with a flame retardent suit on so do your worst hehe

I dont think its purely about whinging, its more about caring.

I know it sounds silly, but as Stainless_Steve and myself agreed upon last night, it takes more than some foreign business boy with money to make a go of TVR. It doesnt seem to exist on the same plane as a regular automotive business, its more like a living, breathing beast.

Now I like a good moan as do many others, but with the goings on at TVR/BA, its not just brought out the moaners and cynics, it has truely enfuriated people who know and love TVR and yes, a lot of them are/were customers of the brand before Smolenski made a mess of things.

To save he has saved TVR and it still is alive is a bit strong, as the company has ceased production, ceased trading and techincally ceased to exist so what exactly is saved and what exactly is alive?

The spirit of TVR is alive through the owners and enthusiasts brought together by this site and the TVRCC and as I said previously, with the kind of passion behind the hearts and minds of the vast majority of TVR owners and enthusiasts, TVR will never die - in spirit at least

As sad as it is to say, the company is no more and even if he manages to pull a Phoenix, I cant see many people buying the Typhoid or anything else he produces (if anything) because hes lost a great majority of his customer base in Britain and the reputation of the company now is in deep shit so I cant see enough people lining up with £80k+ to buy a car from a boy whos idea of business is to force lube around ones bum and shaft them

Only my opinion though so take it how you like

Cobblers. I wouldn't care. I'm English, and if it was my company, manufacturing would be in England, and don't you tell me what I would or wouldn't do. rolleyes

you are right - this forum is a very negative miserable place..

Not the great forum it was..

But is that surprising in the constant state that TVR is in.

and the reason tvr couldn't sell the cars, because people didn't trust them

ie by that logic - it's the customers fault that ratners went under - nothing to do with the owner treating his customers with contempt.

I seem to recall you posting in a very similar vein a few years ago when he bought it the first time. I hope your optimism is better placed second time around - but hell I doubt it.

If £40k cars could be produced in Blackpool at a profit then so could the £80k typhoid. It's bollox to say that you have to move production abroad to make business viable.

Hey Horse Apple, stop being a moron and grow up. Your car does not cost £8 from Argos like your kettle does or £100 for the cheap fridge. That is such a stupid analogy. There are very few TVRs out there and there are very few of us buying them, despite the wonderful Smolensky 3 year warranty. He owes everything to a very small percentage of us who buy these cars and keep them on the road (at vast expense). He owes US, not the other way around.

Stop singing his praises about what a great person he is - just remember, even with daddy's money he wound the company up. What does that say about his managerial skills? After all it's not as if TVR is the only company in England, many others manage to survive quite happily!
