TVR in the snow
Discussion
I've left mine at home today & walked to work (it's only a mile)
As soon as I saw my missus snakeing down the road in her car, I just know someone with similar driving skills is going to plough in to mine, and I can't be arsed waiting two months for it to get repaired (for a third time)
On the plus side, there at least six places I can have a drink at on the walk back, so roll on 5 o clock

Mine's tucked up in the garage. RWD, wide tyres, light weight is a recipe for GETTING STUCK trying to get up the slightest incline. Its all terrific fun until the first hill. Whereupon its automotive humiliation time and getting two mates to push the car....
I speak from experience.
Controlling the slides is all OK. Its getting any traction at all trying to get it back up the hill and into the garage...!
So today I took the Vectra. Which has traction control, ABS etc. And it totally failed to get up a hill in our car park - had to reverse back and get a run up at it...
So. What can I say. I'd advise against it but, hey, fill yer boots...

Took the BMW out today and spent about 5 minutes trying to get up the hill on my cul d sac very embarrassing, deisel auto not that great until i remembered i could actually switch off the bloody traction control and then off i went!
Happened to me the other week when it snowed. This time i was ready. Reversed onto drive last night, turned traction control off this morning - still only just managed to get up the hill !
Don't see the point. I can drift or do doughnuts on demand in the Cerb on a hot dry day. I don't need a friction limited road to be able to do it. Just asking for trouble.
I went out in the (God awful) Avensis earlier and managed to cover the 2 miles each way to drop my son off at day-care. I declined a meeting in Chesterfield reasoning that it'd simply take too long.
So far I've surfed and identified 6 potential Subaru Forester XTs for my next road car. Snow brings out the survivalist in me.

The day I picked my Cerbera up it started to snow just as I was handed the keys. Was followed by much sphincter clenching as I drove right the way from Lincolnshire all the way across the country to darkest Worcestershire. Wasn't helped by the car despite being "one of the best ever" according to the "specialist", the suspension was shagged and the tracking out by a country mile...
Still, it's cured my fear of driving TVRs in the snow - if I could get mine down our lane and out to the open road, I'd take it for a hoon now! Unfortunately, my wife and daughter have blocked it in...

So, is it fun or not recommended. Its great in the 4WD Rallye!
I did'nt take mine to work, just used the old Munano.
one little gripe that i posted about last year though.....What is it about 4X4's this time of the year, i know they got better grip whilst the wheels are still turning, but why do they efin insist on sitting on "normal" drivers arses?????

Don't they realise that once they lock up, they slide so much further than lighter cars.Rant over.....sorry

Not so Dave, it is in more control with 4 wheels helping with the clever system. I will let P7TUS drive it in the snow and ice and I can assure you it is controlled fun.
However, if your not sensible you can still lose it mate.

How true
Drove to Dunmow this morning down the 1060 from Chelmsford, saw a beamer in the ditch at the Easters turn off and just past High Roding a Boxter see sawing on a ditch just where that Lotus hit that tree and burst into flames by the Bacon end turn, I did'nt laugh.. much. Fair enough, but it is so!! But there is still a lot of older 4x4's with no ABS and modern gizmos, I should know, i have had several of those old landys over the last 30 years !!

Last year I took the T350 up hill and down dale in a few inches of snow, was fine even on hills as lsd helped it up. Friends with BM's couldn't believe it
But...couldn't have had more fun in anything than in my old Scooby T today; to leave junction, wind on tiny amount of lock, apply a few revs and rwd-bias launches you straight into controlled oversteer for as long as you like, totally in control.
?
Oh yes. Lots of due care and attention applied.

. She impressed me and the car handled better than I thought.
