According to Autocar (www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/224103/)

The administrator of Blackpool Automotive, the company created last year by Smolenski to contain TVR's Blackpool assets, will announce the successful new owner on February 23, from a field of around half a dozen serious bidders, all of whom were required to provide proof of £2 million funding to be considered.

I wonder if anyone on here would like to own up to a bid?

Here's hoping that we're going to hear some really good news in a couple of weeks and that TVR gets back to producing the cars we all love so much, preferably in Blackpool. clap

The 2 bits I'm particularly liking are:
Autocar said:
Another prominent bidder is the Rochdale millionaire and engine designer Al Melling, already in the news after recently showing a full-size concept model of his own-brand super-performance sports car.

That's the Melling 'great sounding engine but styling by Stevie Wonder' Hellcat of course. Which would look a lot better in a Speed12 body.

We'd major on the Sagaris and we'd revive the Griffith, which would be powered in updated form by an AJP8 engine. That car should never have been dropped."

To me that makes sense. So long as the AJP8 goes crossplane crank and the price is good. If they can sustain a decent build quality then I'm sure the Griff could turn a steady profit for not much more expenditure.

whatever

Interesting to see quote from AM himself (or at least, a statement or something).

I do wonder, though, how much of this news is being recycled through various sources, with each ading their own nuance, which is then picked up by someone else, exaggerated, and worked into a new story.

The bit about "It is possible, though observers say increasingly unlikely, that Smolenski will bid again for the company" sounds just like something I read on PH! (Maybe we're the observers?)

Reading the Melling quote - sounds like he would put the quad cam redesigned AJP in the Griff body..

Now that would be a winner.. wow !

Agree, however they would need to modernise the shape somehow. To do this successfully would be quite an achievement. Would also need to improve the safety aspects of the car - in terms of side impact and rollover protection.

They'll need to have at least 1.75 mil in their solicitors a/c, to even be invited to tender

Very true .. a redesign of that rear end would be good too .. I used to own a Griff and it was it's least pleaseing feature.
