2001 Model Chimaera

Is the latest model worth the money? We're not so sure as we test it out.

Hehe... you had me worried for just a second there, Ted!! I do agree the price is too high as well, even with the space-age ceramic bits...

I still think the pre-face-lift Chimaera is the best looking, big wide grille, flush rear number plate, the only thing I prefer on the newer model is the door button under the wing mirror.

I think this is a positive step. Following the success in Malaysia with cars being manufactured out there and doing well in competition it is only logical that Chimaeras should be made in China.

Market forces seem to suggest that the Chimaera is the most desirable TVR to date.

I strongly suspect that in 10 years time that will prove to still be true.

Seriously though, why is it that TVR models (either like this awful one or like the nicer ones from the TVRCC) need to be so stupidly expensive? I mean, £35+ for a small-scale Dinky Toy??? (or £80 in your own color!) Can't Burago or one of the other ones come up with a nice 1:18 one? I'd pay £35 for that.

Yes, I almost missed the joke too. Nice one.

Don't like the look of this model. I'd agree that the original chim with the wider grille was the best .

I can highly recommend the earlier models though; I got a personalised one for christmas last year from my wife (what a star), exactly the right model year, colour and number plate. It sits on my desk at work and I love it!

I have heard this is because the factory i.e. PW won't licence them to make them? I guess the 1:42 ones are TVR sanctioned as was the Scalexric 1:32 Speed 12 a few years ago.

he's afraid a model car manufacturer would then produce a more reliable, better put together car than his kwik-fit-fitters!
