List of Hopefulls
Discussion
Ok, had enough about Moleskins, Robin of Loxley etc.
Forget the Typhoo,
What is needed here is a list of those who are interested in contributing to a 'NEW TVR', if that was possible.
There seems to be enough people on here with money and brand loyalty, and skills to put together a proposal on how to resurect the cars from the ashes.
Regarding the name, What happened to Granture plastics?, and who would care if it was called TOWER cars as long as it was made in Blackpool.
I am sure the County Council would help with some land / premises if there was sufficient demand for a new venture.(reading the pages on here, there is)
It would not matter if 20 people made 1 car a week to start with, as long as the company was able to prove a demand.(Ok that's a trifle optimistic, and here come the replies.....)
It could also start off as a glassfibre repair / styling add-on type venture and then grow into car making.
Hell, has anyone approached Wheeler to see if he wants into someting on a 'SLEEPING PARTNER type basis'
Come on guys, call me an optimist, but there must be some way to get it going without relying on rich, young inexperienced (un Brand-loyal)foreigners.
KEEP IT BRITISH, and count me as the first one on the list OK.
Does anyone have the chassis info?, I'll design a new body to fit it (based on the classic TVR design language, no glitz, just simple clean honest lines wrapped in a voluptuous shape!).
OK, stuck my neck out enough, who else is willing!

Doesn't John Reid own what was Grantura Plastics?
Off topic but any chance of a copy of some of those special drawings for the Thunder Ball slideshow we are running at the ball. Its to make queuing for a drink more enjoyable! Did you get mail about it btw?

Grantura engineering I think
I'd be interested in any project that means a handbuilt car was being produced in Blackpool.
I think as said previously there has to be a choice of engines. Starting with an entry level basic model not costing the earth. I also think the idea of any colour trim and paintwork is a must for us girly types who like to be different.

I concur, but without a V8 it would be just another MX5 type alsoran, it needs a heart and a soul and where better to start than giving it the engine the later TiVs should have had.

Sorry - I meant a choice of straight6 and V8. When I said including an entry level one, I meant a range of engine sizes like they used to with the Chimaera etc.
I'm rubbish at explaining myself

I am willing to make myself available if you need a test driver.

Ditto!
Seriously Nick, if this is more than mere speculation and booze talking then I say good luck with it all!!
Ive always thought (even though many disagreed with me) that modern TVR's major mistake was to paint themselves into a stereotyped corner, by making every car to be mad bad and as insane as a rabid dog on a rollercoaster when it is perfectly plausable to have an entry level of V6-I6 powered lightweight, but beautiful machines and the mid-top range being offered with an assortment of mainstream bought in I6 and V8, bespoke I6 & possibley room for a bespoke V8(a'la SP6 AJP)
It would take time, but to go backwards into producing a budget option could very well prove to be the bread and butter while older generation owners can indulge in the insanity of a full fat TVR until the entry level owners get the chance to trade up
forgive me, too many ales and now Im setting the world to rights!!
I am not in a position to do much more than help out with design, but I understand the Brand values as they were in the heyday, and you are right about doing a 'bread and butter' no nonsense car.
But there also needs to be a complete nutter b###### car which could follow - this must be a V8 minimum, but you have to crawl before you can walk, so using an existing manufacturer's engine is a must to start with.
Is John Reid listening?
If anyone else is listening and interested, please let yourself be heard.
Regarding designs for the ball, please send me a mail and I will see what I can do.

Nick,
What level of investment are you looking for ?
If you set this at a level that people were willing to come up with the cash without
having to be overly concerned about a massive financial burden you should get plenty of takers.
There have been lots of comments on this forum from people that should be sympathetic to your proposition.
I have no idea what is required in terms of plant and equipment, legal costs, whether this would be
a limited company .....many questions but I'm with you, if you want to make something happen you can find a way.
What about £1000 each investment. No strings attached. What do people think ?
If you can come create the momentum, skills and business plan - I'm in.

Something is being looked at. Relevent ex TVR employees are already involved. It is V8 based. Business plans have been drawn up, out-sourcing companies/partners been spoken to/in the process of being spoken to. It is Blackpool based. Id rather slit my wrists than get Blackpool Council involved due to them being more useless than an idiot with a stick up its arse.
I am a 26 year old TVR owner/enthusiast. I have a degree in Technology and Management. This is an industry based degree, with elements of product design, manufacturing processes,CAD, CAM, electronics, management, research and development and enterprise. I love car design but have no formal car design qualifications. I have five years manufacturing and design industry experience, but not in the automotive sector! Can I be useful to anyone? Please??!!!
