Its going for nearly nothing at all, at a ridiculously low price as I need to raise cash for a tax bill in a hurry, but it still hasnt sold I half expected a queue of people trying to break my door down as its going for half what I paid for it 2 years ago.

I understand sales are supposed to be slow (and prices lower) at this time of year, but perhaps the uncertainty of TVR's future is having a bigger effect on sales than I suspected it might?? Ive also been told its because its yellow scratchchin I thought yellow ones would sell faster TBH, any comments on that last point?

Been away for a few weeks, not had time to read any TVR threads (so am not up to speed with TVR gossip)... is anyone else finding it hard to sell their TVR or is it just me? And does the market slow down a little at this time, or come to a near standstill?

I promise you Bob...I'm gagging for one but for the moment, due to unforseen circumstances, I could buy it but it's the maintenance that put me off... expensive servicing, parts etc... otherwise I'd have one like a shot !

Sorry to hear you are having to leave the fold Rob. I saw your other post, and it seems you've had a rough time these past few months.

Chin up, and lets hope we see you in a Tiv again soon.
Cheers

so, serious question here (really).

Is it actually 'that' cheap, just having a nosey through the classifieds I notice there are a lot from 10-15k (there are a lot much higher) with similar age and mileage, and a speed-6 one down at the 10k mark?

I realise there is probably a lot to do with condition - but when you look through the cerbera classifieds it doesnt jump out at you.

If I thought I could sell mine quick without too much loss, I'd be tempted to give this a punt (and upgrade the daily), but I think your lack of sale may come down to the time of year, state of TVR etc.

Where else are you advertising it?

Rob, yours is exactly the car I'd be looking at when I buy a Cerb! Sad to hear it hasn't sold for you. Hope there's someone like me out there! I've even mooted a loan a few times in the past couple of weeks but seriously I need to concentrate all cash on the V8S and get a more economical runaround.

Reading your ad (several times now) you're making a fuss over the buyer being a PHer. Perhaps that's putting off buyers who aren't regular or don't really know what that means or find the ad through Google. Maye you also need to suffer a couple of tyre kickers cos there may be buyers out there wondering whether a yellow one is too brash for them but don't want to waste your time trying to find out, possibly losing a 'fallen in love with it at first sight' sale.

Have you put it on Autotrader, fish4, Rob Ingleby got any buyers looking for a yellow one?

Also, there's no reassurance that typical work has been done, last services, MOT date or much history.

I know. Im wondering if it being yellow also has something to do with it, dont know.

No where yet. I expected it would be gone within a matter of days or a week or two, at that price. I got the impression that autotrader attracted the time wasters, which I have no time for. Would rather it got a good home on PH, in an ideal world to someone I knew.

Havent put it on autotrader yet, might do that tonight, praps fish4 too. I lowered the price yet again today, and would expect it to sell within a week. Sods law says if I dont, it wont. If I do it will go to a PHer anyway. Not that Im hung up about a PHer buying it just didnt expect a sale to take more than a few days or a week, or two.

Could you not get a loan that has no early repayment fee, pay off the tax and then take your time finding a buyer at the right price and pay back the loan?

I have a mate ... Blueyonder ... that I have just sent this to.

He is looking for a Chim or a Griff so I don't know whether a coupe would interest him... but you never know. If I wasn't coming back to TVR purely for topless motoring then that is EXACTLY the Cerbera I would have.

I would only consider one colour Griff - Sunset Pearl - luckily, there was one available.

Good luck

Personally, I think TVRs are better in a loud colour (to match the noise)! My Tam is yellow, so I wouldn't have any concerns with your colour at all - it looks great. thumbup

However, I know that people say that yellow is a colour to steer clear of in many other cars, even Boxsters. However, it's all personal choice, of course.

No offence meant, and as i said above, i dont know the market well enough to comment on exact value, but looking in the PH classifieds your car Didn't leap out as the bargin of the century to me at least..

So, i would assume, unless your selling to an enthusiast, one without a tvr already, your pitching at people who may not see what a bargin it is.

p'haps update the advert to emphasise why this is such a steal, or just tell us now... because honestly, I can't see it?

Cars a good price, it's just that time of year. Most people are waiting for that big credit card bill or as you say a tax bill. January is a bad month to sell anything.

Been through this elsewhere on PH, plus many times with mates etc... A loan just isnt the right option for me. I have a little debt already, and really want to wipe the slate clean. Im starting 2-3 new businesses this year, Im sure I'll have plenty of cash to splash in time (he says/I hope) but right now what I need/want most of all is a fresh start.

I was told by a dealer chap that yellow ones were hardest to sell, yet the buyers who have shown an interest so far have said that the colour/spec was exactly what they would want. I had no plans to buy a cerbera quite when I did (regarding timing) but couldnt say no when mine appeared (bought with 18k miles on the clock, yellow, from a reputable dealer, 4.5 etc). There arent that many yellow 4.5's for sale, it seems.

Too many people have seen you drive Bob......... hehe

Seriously, it should sell at that price, I would put it down to current TVR 'perceived' limbo and the time of year. Should sell soon though Bob its a great car, and for that price............. keep your chin up mate.

Later

I'll go post letters through Ron's door to tell him to buy a Cerb!

A bit of a negative advert? There's one line saying as far as you know it's OK, then a whole bunch of stuff at the bottom of what's wrong with it. Ok only little bits, but maybe it's the way the advert is written?

No mention of well looked after, always reliable, service history, new tyres etc.

Ever considered it looks too cheap and thats why people are not enquiring?

Years ago, I used to sell Audi's. When the A4 came out, it didn't sell as well as Audi wished. So, what did they do? They jacked the prices up by £2000 and they sold bucket loads.

All about buyers perception I suppose!

Its a rediculously low price for a Cerbera, which in all honesty looks very nice.

Joe Bloggs who has an uneducated eye may be smelling a rat when there isn't even one there.
