Offer help to ex-TVR workers
Discussion
I have an idea to help the workers. It seems to me that what they need most right now is jobs.
Does the place where you work have any job vacancies?
Could an ex-TVR worker fill that job?
Why don’t we try and see how many workers we can help back into employment.
For obvious reasons those owners based near Blackpool are best placed to help. However it may come down to some of the people relocating.
I work in London. We are currently recruiting. Starting money about £25k (with a couple of years experience and overtime mid £30k’s) We provide training. Most of the ex-TVR people could do it, but VERY stressful and shift work. We do have a few people working in glassfibre but I don’t know of any vacancy in that department. I am making enquires.
If you are an ex-TVR worker and prepaired to move to London, email my profile.
If you are an owner then extend that hand of friendship. Post details of jobs.

Thanks for your concern. It's much appreciated. As one of the former stylists at TVR I know that there is a hell of a lot of talent. The guys i knew could turn their hand to just about any job and were the most loyal and hard working people i have ever met. (you would have to be to put up with the crap we've endured for the past few months).
Long shot, but the least i can do.
I'm looking for an embedded software engineer. Our location is just outside Bolton.
Don't know whether the electronics and software for the ECU, dash etc was done in house or contracted out. If it was inhouse and the person(s) responsible would like to contact me we can discuss.

If we can make this idea of helping the workers into new jobs we achieve more than is at first apparent. Nothing like this has ever been done before.
If successful, it becomes one hell of a human interest story that the news media could really make something of.
The only way I can foresee the workers getting the money that is morally owed to them is if it becomes in NS financial interest to pay it. I have no doubt that he has arranged matters so he does not legally owe it to them.
We need the glare of publicity. WE need a story that runs and runs. You can help make that story.
All we have to do is get the first few people into a job and you have the start of a story that can be run and run, as the press follows the campaign.
The publicity brings the situation to the attention of people outside the world of TVR who are in a position to offer employment. As jobs generated this way are a product of the campaign, we can claim them as our success.
Continuing negative publicity has implications for NS. It attracts official scrutiny to what has happened and potentially to his future deals. When he re-launches TVR, it may cost sales. If he considers it cheaper to pay the workers, he will.
Not in a position to hire and fire in your job? Just ask “any vacancies” then think what job within TVR would have given the transferable skills to fill the position. Do whatever you can do to get an interview.

This is somthing I've been working on with the TVRCC, we're looking to collate a list of the interested ex workers and list all their skills and areas they would like to work in on part of the tvrcc web site, and there must be tvrcc members as well as phers who are in recruitment...
another area we were looking to record where what jobs people did, and if they would be interested in doing commisions for owners. i.e. the people who used to make the door controllers for cerbs etc would they be interested in fixing the odd one here and there...
It would also be a valuable resource for anyone restoring a car in the future.
as I see it we have a duty to help out the workers who have been treated so shabbily and also to protect the information relating to the cars and the factory.
as I said we are sorting somthing through the tvrcc, but in the mean time if any workers want to mail me direct with info i'll be happy to recieve it
cheers
