HI my Chimera is now due for its MOT. I am in the middle of fitting a new set of carpets and had removed the Radio surround to get it re-venered and it has been lost in transit. I am desperately trying to find an early radio surround with switches my car is a 1996 as I cannot get my MOT done and will be of the road over christmas. I had arranged to go away in TREVOR over christmas to show of his lovely new carpets/interior to friends but is looking like I may have to cancel unless anyone can help me!!! regards, Bob 07970215577

I have checked with the MOT people and the switches must be fitted securely hence I must fit a replacement radio surround. I want a wood surround as I hate the metal surround and dash look!!

Don't know what the MOT regulations state, but it's probably only that the switches work and are accessible - not that they have to be neatly mounted in a dash panel. Perhaps you could get two (hazards and fogs? ) cheap switches and connect them up for the test. They would be dangling but the lights would be operable.
I'm sure an MOT boffin will be able to tell you what is and isn't allowed.

Don't see why it would fail as long as the switches can be operated. You may need to secure them to something, not sure dangling around would be favoured.

It will probably be quickest to buy a new metal panel from Leven. You could always have that veneered if you wish. Or make your own out of a stiff bit of stuff. It wouldn't be difficult to reproduce the 'quality' of the original!

There's no P in Chimaera BTW. irked

Internal switches secure ?

Blimey, has Rob Styles threw his referees shirt away & took up the running of an MOT station ?
