How many of the junctions are enforced. I saw quite a lot of non-TVR's blocking/stopped in box junctions and more than a few taxis as well.
The other concern is probably traffic light cameras as people were trying to help things along by squeezing an extra car through or being quick off the mark.

I got flashed on the way out of Blackpool at 6.30am
There are a lot of flashers in Blackpool.

I know you get used to the flashers round town - but these were tourists visiting motorway roadworks. They were right skinny ones too.
Memorable day though, London Thunder and possibly the first ever points on my license!

Not many from my experiences of commuting in London, far too many people blocking the box junctions and running the lights up ot 20 seconds after they have changed. A few less GATSO's and a few more traffic light/junction cameras would improve safety far more.
TBH in central London, when the traffic is that congested, no one gives a sh1t about yellow boxes, or red traffic lights, or no U turns ... basically, if your action is enabling your queue to move forward, then go for it.
in the past i have got off "jumping a traffic light" when the camera has shown my speed as 2 MPH and i have just triggered it by creeping in the queue.
Its not big, or clever, and i certainly find that i drive in a very different way when i get out of Central London.
May be a few speeding tickets from Gatso's on the west way however!!

So far I think yellow box offences have had to be reported by traffic wardens if they happened to be there at the time. However I think they're increasingly going to use CCTV instead. Not been done yet, will be bloody annoyed if I do because I'd never sit in a yellow box on purpose but it's easy to be caught out - you're at a green light, car the other side of junction moves forward leaving enough space for you to fit in, so you start moving and then some git in the other lane who was half in the yellow box switches lanes and fills the space - what do you do then? Happens fairly often. Secondly, the yellow boxes can be very hard to see when it's dark and raining.

They have used CCTV, thats why I wondered. I'm a member on a consumer action group as well and a recent thread was a lady who got caught out and got a fixed penalty notice for stopping in a yellow box and requested the CCTV evidence that they had used to issue the notice. However - The offence is not STOPPING in a box junction, the offence is "Entering a box junction when you cannot see your exit to be clear". IIRC she got away with it because her exit was clear but a white van and a bus put a quick stop to that.

I'll pay my fines if those bendy busses who straddle the entire box junction and about 20ft either side pay first!
Yup. Trafalgar Square/Whitehall. A bus blocked the junction for an entire phase of the lights. No good reason that I could see. "So lets make this jam a bit worse shall we". W****r!

Actually (and this may not be at the same time) just as it started to get busy, and a number of peeps had done their doughnut/fishtail/wheelspiny bit, as I was waiting to enter Trafalgar Square from Whitehall, a noticed 2 coppers flag 2 buses at the lights and hold them there for at least 2 light change cycles and thats what caused the first big jam at Trafalgar Sq.
Im guessing they did it to slow the TVRs down a bit?
