This is a complicated story but I would massively appreciate anything you know or could help with this. Here's the short version of the story. I ordered a Sagaris from Tvr in August. They guaranteed delivery before January. They messed me around. The car wasn't even half finished after two months and no guarantees would be made that I would get it. So I cancelled the order. I have now found another Sagaris on a forecourt which I am looking to import to the Republic of Ireland. However the revenue here are saying they need an EU Certificate Of Conformity. Tvr say they do not do this, only a uk one. So here's the revenue saying they won't let it in. The only way now apparently we can do it is register it in England first and bring the car in secondhand.

I dont understand how they do not have this certificate as Tvr's have been sold in France and Holland have they not? Anyone know of anyone with a Sagaris not in the uk with this certificate? Anyone know of any way to get this EU certificate. Or maybe someone who can perform this test on one vehicle and give the cert. I believe it is the first Sagaris registered in Ireland but please does anyone know of anyone who may have one here?

At this stage because we want it 07 it looks like we will have to wait and register it in the uk on the first working day in Jan. Then apparently Swansea take ages to register a car (any info on this would be good too, I.e times it takes etc if worst comes to worst and this is the route we have to take) Then re- register it over here as apparently its then ok to take the sagaris in once its second hand. This to me seems unbelievable. Its ok to take it in second hand. But not ok to take the uk certificate of conformity they have. It needs to be Eu. Sorry I'm so unbelievably mad about all this because now instead of having the car here and ready on the 1st Jan it now looks like it may be Feb before we get it with all the messing around the revenue are making us do.

I guess this is a call out to any suggestions or any info anyone might know about this. I just can't believe we have to bring it in second hand because the Irish gits are too lazy to do the paperwork themselves. Also i have been thorough so much messing around now with Tvr and everything there seems to be hurdle after hurdle. So anything you know that could help would be amazing. Thanks for reading if you got this far

By the way this is what the certificate is. As it says below "A Certificate of Conformity can only be issued by the manufacturer of the vehicle or his authorised agent (franchised distributor)." However the uk dealer has tried his best but never said anything about being able to issue this. Anyone know if dealers can somehow issue this?

"12. What is a Certificate of Conformity and when is it required?

The Certificate of Conformity contains technical information concerning the vehicle e.g. Type Approval Numbers, Engine Size etc. "Type Approval" is used to describe the regulatory system applied to all new motor vehicles before they are brought into use in the EU. The system is designed to ensure that all such vehicles meet certain specified technical standards including safety, noise and exhaust emissions.

All new motor vehicles other than, agricultural and forestry tractors and mobile machinery must meet the requirements of the EU Type Approval Directives at the time of registration.

A Certificate of Conformity can only be issued by the manufacturer of the vehicle or his authorised agent (franchised distributor).

Vehicles previously registered using temporary export plates require a Certificate of Conformity if the vehicle is to be registered in the State."
