We need someone in London or close to London to organise this. I will organise the M6/M1 service stations meet up again but we need someone down south to organise dates, times, routes and objectives. We need to grab the medias attention in a very positive way.

We now have a Date Chaps SUNDAY 26 NOVEMBER. I have tried to find a route that will bring the largest amount of TVRs together.
Please mail me if you would like me to add more Service Stations. I hope this is OK for everybody.
Please try and make the effort to join up it should make for some great video for us all to remember.

Meet at Charnock Richard (M6)07.30
Leave for Keele 07.40

Meet at Keele (M6) 08.30
Leave for Corley 08.40

Meet at Corley (M6)09.30
Leave for Watford Gap 09.40

Meet at Watford Gap (M1)10.10
Leave for Toddington 10.20

Meet at Toddington (M1)11.00
Leave for London Gateway 11.10

Meet at London Gateway (M1)11.40
Leave for Central London 11.50

MEET IN CENTRAL LONDON (Venue to be arranged) (12.15/12.30)

Please mail me other Service stations suggestions, If all the Northern Chaps eventually meet up at Watford Gap just after where the M6 meets the M1 we should have one hell of a TVR convoy.

We could do with an M4/M5 meet up for south wales and south west chaps plus other convoys and we could all meet up before we enter the city.

Please mail me if you are up for organising the other convoys so we can arrange a meet up.thumbup

Just transferred a couple of the earlier ideas across from the other topic. From what I have heard though it sounds like weekend rally is preferred but I wouldn't rule out the Thursday pm idea.

From this morning........

1. Ideally needs to be during the week to get the best media coverage - too many other things to compete with at weekend. Also overtime for camera crews on Saturday. I know its a bind cos its time off work but I would do there and back in a day
2. Thursday would be good for MPs QUESTION time - local MPs can raise the subject whilst cars are outside
3. Try to get Jeremy Clarkson involves with Top Gear - he is a TVR fan and perhaps we can get Richard Hammond involved as he is got some good profile now (even if he is a Porsche man)- they could do one of their TVR runs; Blackpool to ROME and back with the concludsion that Italy is not really all it's made out to be - leave it to Ferrari / Fiat - return to central London in time for the rally.
4. Aim to have TVRs in all the major capitals worldwide - including and specifically ROME all at the same GMT time - that would allow our friends around the world to join in.
5. Go for the true world record for a marque gathering.
6. Someone must know NS and could ask if would sell - everything has a price. Also someone out there will know some wealthy supporters.
7. Use the consultation period - standard letters to be sent - for the Nuclear campaign we got 15,000 letters to support the plant - this also involves unions so workforce can really help - inundate the process with leters of support for staying in Blaclpool - if its a true process then each letter should be given a reply. Perhaps the London Undergound workers could support it from aUnion perspective - i.e. posters in the underground (big audience)
8. Get a good slogan - "TVR - Solid as a Rock" [like Blackpool rock, cut it anywhere and the name is fully embedded and impossible to remove
9. EU Legal challenge - can a business decimate a workforce and destroy a skill base in the EU. Can something be done to stop it going through or make it more palatable to keep it in the UK [CoochJ is the expert here).
10. Don't rush into the first weekend - go for the end of the Public Consultation with a big SPLASH - when is it anyway?

Anyway- enough for now and back to the jobs around the garden

Now going out to burn all the rubbish from a days gardening under the guise of bonfire night. Julian C has added an interesting note on the other topic page - i.e. strategy to make biggets impact.

Could do with closing down one topic and keeping the Londaon Rally as the main one

What ever happens, you really need to do it sooner rather than later. Trust me.

Some great points, I like the idea of a world record of some kind involving our cars all in support of the TVR workers and keeping TVR British.

A world record should grab the medias attention.

I think a London rally is a great idea.

Not sure it will smash any records, didn't the first mania have about 1000 TVR's?, there was a hell of a lot at Donnington a year or two later.

I dont know about Clarkson being a fan.He used to be in the old days, but as of late he,s made some derogatory comments about them.As for Hammond he doesnt like them at all as per the article on Top Gear on the Sagaris. If your doing the London rally during the week then dont forget your £8 congestion charge.

Having spent all my driving life in and around London I really recommend you guys only think about this event on a Sunday. Trying to achieve the end result (i.e. good tv coverage etc) on any other day will become a huge source of driver frustration that will spoil the event for everyone and not create continuity in the positive momentum built up in Blackpool last week. It will be bad enough on a Sunday - but worth it - IMO forget it on any other day. I'm going to be in London next Sunday in the TVR - if it's helpful I can suss out some staging areas / route although I know the metroBiB will have a view if they are involved.
