If Mr Smolenski is to start production in a new country (Italy) with new designs and construction techniques (as he admitted he hoped to build cars in a much more advanced way, maybe bonded alloy chassis), a new workforce (Bertone) and new engines (or at least a new engine developer Ricardo), then what remains of TVR apart from a brand? What does he have left?
Would it be possible for him to sell off TVR as a going concern with the condition that he has access to the chassis and engine rights for the development of his new cars?
I see that all he has is the name TVR and a load of designs, which he may throw away anyway. I don't think TVR as a brand will appeal to its core market of patriotic U.K buyers if it is based in Italy and will fail. If its failing here under his ownership then why would it succeed there under his ownership? Surely it makes sense to start a new company with his new name, using the designs he has gained from TVR and allow TVR to carry on seperately? Is anyone interested in buying TVR? What about a PHeads buyout?!

what change have you got in your pocket?! How many PHERS here? Must be thousands. Multiply willing participants by the sum we are all prepared to give =£000,000?
Remember Justin Wilson? He set up a company to help fund his F1 career by appealing to enthusiasts for investment. Why can't someone here with the vision and clout start the ball rolling and try this?

No seriously, I would think it viable for Mr S to sell TVR as a whole concern, on condition he had access to Intellectual Property and rights to use technology as a basis for his new cars. I feel that the technical knowledge he gained from TVR is more valuable to him than the letters TVR. Pagani took his knowhow gained, from Ferrari i believe, and set up his own company. He didn't need the Ferrari brand or heritage to set up, just the knowledge he gained from them. He sure doesnt need their heritage to sell his motors either!

its something i had said to work mates ,you would have to appoint an executive director accountable to the shareholders ,those with most shares have most votes,i would have thought in the TVR comunity there would be someone of a caliber enough to run the company. as long as people accept share values can fall as well as rise,if it was successfull could reap sum rewards.

Ah sorry Lambourghini, I knew it was one of the euro supercars but got the wrong one! You get my point though? He didnt have to buy Lambo to build a supercar. He had his experiences with Lambo to his advantage and used them when making his Zonda.

I'd be up for buying a few shares in TVR. I did think of this idea myself, but don't really have much knowledge on the subject. If someone wanted to start it, I'd certainly join.

Whats the current value for TVR then?

What is there left to buy? There's no factory, not to clear on the equipment. All you have is the name, designs and stuff like that.

Mind you, i wonder if you can source a grant from the UK government and Blackpool Council, take premises on favourable terms as you've be boosting the employment sitation again. DeLorean did well out of it. Food for thought.

I'd be up for doing some Sales & Marketing............

Can i just say, that its a name from childhood, when i was younger people called me Rogey for some reason, then some bright spark bolted Dodgey on the front, the name just stuck. I would also like to add that this came about because my father was a motor dealer and when i used to go to work with him at a very early age, thats what they called me. I also did car sales for a bit too. (He used to be a TVR Dealer back in the day also, from 1968 to 1986, so its in the the blood)

I would propose bringing back topless and or naked women back to the Motor Shows as it would put us back on the map and also be a good publicity stunt, just like back in the day. Get this sorted out chop chop so we have it all in place for the 60th Anniversary.

I must say I'm a bit confused by all this 'not made in Britain = not TVR' business.

My Chimaera had a chassis and body that was built in Britain, as well as the upholstery. The rest of it was sourced from a million different places. The engine was a Rover V8 and we all know where that design came from.

Does it really matter that it won't be built here any more? They don't build Porsches over here, but that doesn't stop them being great cars.

Actually that one is debatable, I've heard it's a design that originated with BMW, I've seen pics on t'internet that would seem to confirm that too

It originally came from Buick. AFAIK, the BMW story is a total myth.
