Just wondering what effect the latest news of TVR moving production to europe will have on used TVR values, The UK ones!

I was thinking of selling mine, now I don't know what to do, or even it's real value.

Most parts are bought in from other manufacturers, are they not? Other than body panels?

Edited to add: there's already a thread running and we shouldn't encourage duplicates.. doh.

If you looked into it Marki, you'll find there are independent companies springing up that have designed/produced spare parts (e.g.clutches) that are potentially better than the standard TVR ones, so i don't think there will be a problem. Supply and demand and all that!!

e.g www.raceproved.com

Sorry, but who says TVR will not supply parts? They have told the dealers they will and as they are still a going concern the EU directive will surely cover the supply of parts for 10 years from when production ceases of any model?

Thats how it is by law.The last one built has to be supported with parts for the next 7/10 years. However TVR, has not, repeat not, gone bust.I Suspect that a lot more TVRS ARE GOING TO BE BUILT IN YEARS TO COME.So nobody need to worry about parts.

In todays Autocar, TVR have said they will be "leaving a backroom staff of 10 managers to run the company"....Presumably to administer Parts, Warranty, etc.

Don't worry about parts, warranty, service etc. It is sorted. Expect a press release soon. Thats all I'm saying.

tvr'a are relatively simple construction, space frame chassis suspension bits hanging off,
body bolted on, anyy competent moulding company could produce the body work, and do allready..

After all jaguar stopped making e-type bits a long time ago.

Only issue i could think about is ajp v8 s6 engine blocks, rover v8 not a problem..

Anyway back to the original question, hang on to your Griffs and Chims, I think they will become very sought after in the future.thumbup

I am glad not to have a post 2001 AJP / S6 TVR at this point in time as I suspect values are in freefall.

Parts supply (esp blackpool fabricated parts) will be dodgy

Repairs parts will be scarce (e.g. new chassis or body part)

The dealers will be winding down stock to reduce risk

Owners will be getting shot for reasons 1 & 2

Concerns over factory warranty if factory dissapears

Its all very well to summise the best scenario, but lets not forget that MG Rover was many, many times the size and still closed doors.

I am no expect but suspect TVR could cease trading and TVR Italia could commence and at a stroke you could absolve yourself of all manner of parts responsibilities as per EC directives.
