I have heard today that my old friend Ian Loader has passed away following a long illness. Those of you who have been Tiving for a while will know that Ian was the R.O. for Norfolk during the 80's and early 90's. Ian was a true Gentleman and a huge TVR fan and I know that those of you who had the pleasure of his company at any of the many events he would organise / attend will have a few quite thoughts for him. God bless Ian you will be missed by many.

Hi David, long time no hear or see...

I can always remember one of our very first TVR outings with the Suffolk Brigade was to go and see Ian and let him have a ride in the latest TVR...the Tuscan.

We all converged on Long Melford green, a beautiful village and the TVRs looked just superb in the historical village.

I never knew Ian personally as he had retired from ROing before we joined, but I'll always remember how pleased he was, even though very unwell at the time, to be taken for a blat in the new Tuscan.

Very sad news.

David, haven't seen or heard from you for a while...YHM

Few people will remember Ian on these forums but I am proud to say I had many happy chats with him many years before emails were science fiction. Gentleman is a true description and his memories will linger with me long after this forum has expired. RIP Ian and my best wishes to his friends and family. God bless. We are all mortal but will all live somewhere forever in someone's heart. Steve Reid

Hi David,

sorry to hear this and always difficult for those left behind.

It is good to hear from you I have often wondered how you are doing as it is a while since you were on TVRCC forum (it's me Andy). How is Amy and any stable mates?

Cranki, you will be pleased to know that the Suffolk contigent planned a re run to Long Melford in Ian's honour on Sunday.

Unfortunately we couldn't make it to the Meet, but I believe they had planned it for the afternoon run out.

Just to let you all know the run out is planned on the 19th November after the meet at Ixworth.
I too didn't have the pleasure of meeting or speaking with Ian, but am sure his enthusiasm for TVR carries on. clap

I remember Ian when I owned a Tuscan V6 in the early 1980's he was always very friendly approachable person with lots of enthusiasm, my best friend who has also passed away restored Ian's Tuscan to its former glory, they were great days, very sad RIP Ian.

I would just like to add a message to those others comemorating Ian. I first visited Ian & the suffolk crew in the late 80's. I latter went on to be the RO of the mid Essex area & through that time saw Ian at various events. We also had runs up to Suffolk to meet up. Ian loved his TVR's & I am sure that people who visited his group were helped into TVR ownership by his enthusiasm & help.
I have visited pistonheads today to read the news about TVR & its closure in the UK of car production & came on the news of Ian's death by accident. It seems to me that for the world of TVR, both for the UK & at club level with the people who knew Ian, it has been a very sad week.

Very sad news, I never met Ian but remember reading his enthusiastic reports as RO and remember seeing his lovely Yellow Tuscan V6 around in the late 1980s. My thoughts go out to everyone who knew him.

Oliver.
