24k Service Tappets Adjustments
Discussion
Hi there,
does anyone know when the tappets really need to be adjusted apart from the dealer telling you? Are there any signs that we can look out for?
Just dropped my car off this morning for the 24k service and they said that they will need adjusting before they even start.
Also, how do we know they have been adjusted?
Any thoughts?
Danny.

Like i say, i was told its part of the service. Except for the speed6, in which tapped adjust is extra. This is what the dealer ( kings tvr ) told me ?? Maybe they think its a sp6 ?? Or maybe they're trying to scam you ?? or maybe my local dealer was blagging cause he wanted to shift a cerbie ??
I have a standard TVR service schedule (colour puple) from my Chim service last month. As written on the schedule, item 34 is:
"Check Adjust Tappets (Cerbera & Tuscan) and adjust timing chain tension if noisey (speed 6 only)"
This is scheduled on majors, i.e. every 12k.
I read that as adjust tappets on all cerbies and tuscans. Adjust timing chain tension on speed 6's
I got a free curtesy car with my service which was a major, cost £798 inc vat and included new pads on the front, diagnosis and repair of fuse fault and MOT - still pricey though, I think!

Not yet, it is at Henley. Spoke to a guy who used to work at TVR this afternoon and said that it is worth getting done properly. He reckons that if it isn't done right, it will cost more in the long run.
These guys have always looked after me in the past, but I am always interested in an alternative...
