Hi all,
I have a biro ink mark on the cream vinyl door cap of my Chim, which i just can't shift.
I have gone through so many cleaners that the garage is starting to look like a laboratory. Has anyone got a miracle ink remover?
Many thanks in advance
David

I sat in my old cerb with a biro in my back jeans pocket. I then wrote all over the seat with my ass ! I couldnt shift it BUT 3 months later if had just gone ! I think that might be cos the seat was used frequently thereafter.

Try "Harveys" or a similar store they do leather cleaning kit, which has a "pen remover" cleaner in it.

I`v been struggling with grime in my vynil and found VERY conservative use of pharmacy acetone will shift anything, but care must to be taken not to concentrate on one area for more than a couple of wipes: the acetone will soften the plastic and if there`s a smear of dirt on the cloth, this can be `fixed` in to the vynil when the acetone quickly evaporates. As most cleaners` labels recommend: test on a non visible part first!

What he said. I have a leather cleaning kit that came with my leather sofer from klaussner - has a biro removal liquid in it and having two young kids I can safely say it does exactly what is says on the tin. Magic.

I had the exact same thing on my Griffith glovebox, nothing would remove it, tried everything. In the end I mentioned it to the guy who was repairing my seat squab and 30 secs later it was gone.

This guy is a genius. www.trim-tech.co.uk/

Same problem. solved with bath room cream cleaner - the abrasive stuff: Tiny bit on a small bit of cloth got biro of my magnolia seat in seconds: I guess you have to be a little carefull not to scuff the leather but with care it was very easy.

My Girlfriend washed her white work top and forgot to take a biro out of the pocket. We got all the ink out using Surgical Spirit.

As always, many thanks for the ideas so far guys:

Its on the vinyl, and the three leather cleaners i've tried wont touch it, including one with a stick for ink (not sure if it is Harveys hbeck, so will check). Being on the door cap, it's sadly not going to just wear out.

I've Tried cif, and every other household cleaner Mrs H has, meths, wheel cleaner, vinyl trim cleaner, white spirit (though not surgical acetone though, is that available at a chemist gruffy?)

I will give the guys at Trim Tech a call, thanks puff.

Any other ideas are most welcome

Meths removes biro* but it'll also remove the colour on your leather, so go easy and be prepared to clean and feed the leather afterwards. You may end up with a dull path where the biro was.

*thanks to Anthea Turner ('The Perfect Housewife').

Brake cleaner. Amazing stuff. Even gets chewing gum out of carpets. Doesn't seem to discolour the original material either.

Of course they're soft, they're designed for babies bottoms They just seem to be able to clean anything off anything and if they don't they don't cause any damage. Just don't go for the ones with added 'bum conditioner' etc.

Carbon Tetrachloride will do the job. You may have to go to the chemist for it and its not something you play around with but it will clean pen off 100%.
