How long are your clutches lasting, and under what driving conditions? My Griff 500 has done 44k on the original (no track use)- wondering if a hefty expenditure is imminent.

mine is about the same and slips badly every now and then but not constantly, it really puzzles me as I am sure that if it was worn it would slip more often.

..mine does that slipping thing too.. ..I had a look round for clutch prices and TMS Performance do a good deal on clutches.. ...well considering that I was quoted £750 + vat + fitting by Keridges makes TMS prices a better deal anyway... ...mines done 33,000mls... 43,000 and still on the original clutch. I've had the master cylinder replaced recently as it was weeped a bit, this has made the clutch pedal feel much better. Of course now I've said this it'll go bang tomorrow. I believe Peninsula do a good deal on clutches. Trefor/.

The clutch on my Chimaera 500 went at about 28k. I was told that since they are effectively racing clutches that anything past 25k was the thought to be pretty good. One of the very nice TVR dealers identified that an oil seal had leaked which had then contaminated the clutch . The end result was a that the warantee covered a large chunk of the cost for the work.

PhilR, I am interested in the oil seal failure, and the fact that your warranty covered the repair ( & assume new clutch too). I have just had my Griff 500 recovered to HHC, after a (suspected) failure of the rear crankshaft oil seal (lots of Mobil1 pissing out of bellhousing). The dealer reckons that oilseals are not covered by my warranty (TVR Spirit Extra), so I would be interested in your experience (and those of any others reading this). Yours, A Worried Griff Owner!
